Abstract

Penelitian yang berjudul “Identifikasi Kesalahan Dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Cerita Pada Materi Peluang Smp Kelas Viii” bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis kesalahan dan juga faktor penyebab siswa melakukan kesalahan dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita, khususnya materi peluang SMP kelas VIII. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Air Putih merupakan populasi dari penelitian ini. Teknik pengumpulan data memakai tes soal uraian serta dianalisis berdasarkan analisis kesalahan menyelesaikan soal cerita menurut Newman. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat lima jenis kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Air Putih dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita pada materi peluang yaitu kesalahan Reading Error (kesalahan membaca soal), Comprehension Error (kesalahan memahami soal), Transform Error (kesalahan transformasi soal), Process Skill (kesalahan keterampilan proses), Encoding Error (kesalahan penulisan jawaban). Diamana kesalahan yang mendominasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu kesalahan Reading Error (kesalahan membaca soal) mencapai angka 77%. Adapun faktor-faktor penyebab kesalahan siswa menyelesaikan soal cerita materi peluang yaitu meliputi faktor kognitif dan non-kognitif Kata Kunci : Soal Cerita, Peluang, Kesalahan Dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Cerita /The research entitled "Identification of Errors in Solving Story Problems in Class VIII Junior High School Opportunity Materials" aims to identify the types of errors and also the factors that cause students to make mistakes in solving story problems, especially the opportunity material for SMP class VIII. This study uses a descriptive research method with a quantitative approach. Class VIII students of SMP Negeri 2 Air Putih are the population of this study. The data collection technique used a test of description questions and was analyzed based on the analysis of errors in solving story questions according to Newman. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that there were five types of errors made by class VIII students of SMP Negeri 2 Air Putih in solving story problems on the material of opportunity, namely Reading Error (error reading the question), Comprehension Error (misunderstanding the question), Transform Error (transformation error). , Process Skill (process skill error), Encoding Error (answer writing error). Where the error that dominates in this study is the Reading Error (error reading the question) which reaches 77%. The factors that cause students' errors in completing the story questions of opportunity materials include cognitive and non-cognitive factors.
