Abstract
Currently, most educators in Indonesia have not applied methods, models or learning approaches that can stimulate student learning motivation. The current learning is more teacher-centered (based on preliminary observations at SMAN 9 Jakarta), it is found that in the teaching of chemistry is still centered on the teacher (Teaching Centered Learning) so that students become less active and bored which can lead to low student learning outcomes. Project-based learning is a learning model that allows teachers to manage classroom learning by involving project work. This study aims to (1) Knowing the use of Project Based Learning model can improve students' chemical learning outcomes in the learning process, (2) Knowing how much the use of Project Based Learning model can improve the learning outcomes of chemistry in the learning process with this research stoichiometric material using pretest-postest only Design. The sample of 58 students who studied from 29 students of class X MIPA 1 as experimental group using the model of Project Based Learning and 29 students of class X MIPA 2 as a control group using conventional model. Instruments in this study using a choice of double-reasoned amounted to 15 items. The test result data were analyzed using t test with Dependent Sample Test with SPSS 24 for windows program. Based on the results of data analysis, the model of Project Based Learning proved to improve student learning outcomes. The average students' learning outcomes of the experimental group increased from 35 to 85 or increased by 28.91%, higher than the control group's average of 39 to 77. The results of the normality test using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test showed the pretest values of both sig groups. 0.200 and 0.086> 0.05, while the postes normality test both sig groups. 0.077 and 0.200, which means normality distributed data, as well as homogenity test results using levene show sig value. 0.996 which means both homogeneous data. Hypothesis test results using Dependent Sample Test shows that the value of sig. (2-tailed) 0.000 <0.05, which means Ha accepted. The conclusion is that the use of Project Based Learning model can improve student learning outcomes in stoichiometric material.
