Abstract

Kata kunci: Klasifikasi lima kingdom, pemahaman konsep, kuartet, media pembelajaran, pengembangan / Biology includes the understanding of complex scientific concepts and processes, biodiversity material is one of the essential topics but abstract, so it requires learning strategies that are able to help students understand the concept of classification of living things concretely, but students' understanding of the concept of classification of living things is known to be still relatively low, one of the factors is the lack of supportive learning media. Quartet media is one of the media that is able to support learning, but no one has provided quartet media regarding the classification of the five kingdoms with an attractive appearance and contains material descriptions. So the objectives of this research are 1) To produce a quartet card learning media called Biology Four Cards (BIO4C) in supporting the learning of biology of living creature classification material, 2) To describe the results of students' understanding of concepts after learning to use quartets in living creature classification material, 3) To find out the difference in student learning outcomes by using BIO4C media and without media. This research uses the 4D development method in making cards and quasi experiments at the implementation stage. As a result of this study, BIO4C cards produced 48 cards with 12 themes which include the kingdom Protista, Monera, Fungi, Plantae and Animalia, the increase in students' understanding of concepts can be seen from the change in students' writing test scores with a pretest score of 72 an increase to 89.7 and students were able to explain each characteristic of the kingdom, in class using BIO4C it produced completeness of scores in all students while classes without using BIO4C as many as 14% of students were still having difficulty understanding the concept of classification of living things. Keywords: Classification of the five kingdoms, understanding concepts, quartets, instructional media, development
