Abstract

Materi lingkaran membutuhkan pemahaman yang tinggi. Namun nyatanya, siswa kelas 8A Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 69 Jakarta masih menghadapi kesulitan dalam materi lingkaran. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi kesulitan dan mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi subjek penelitian di kelas 8A Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 69 Jakarta dalam menyelesaikan soal lingkaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kombinasi metode kuantitatif dan kualitatif menggunakan desain penelitian sequential explanatory design. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan tes dan wawancara. Tahap awal melibatkan pengumpulan dan analisis data kuantitatif. Sebanyak 34 siswa kelas 8A Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 69 Jakarta diberikan tes lingkaran kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif. Tahap selanjutnya melibatkan pengumpulan dan analisis data kualitatif. Sebanyak 9 siswa sebagai subjek penelitian dan guru matematika akan diwawancarai mengenai kesulitan dalam tes lingkaran dan faktor yang memengaruhi kesulitan dalam materi lingkaran. Data kualitatif dianalisis dengan cara triangulasi metode. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan berdasarkan data kuantitatif terdapat kesulitan yang dialami siswa kelas 8A Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 69 Jakarta, yaitu sebesar 82,9% siswa kesulitan fakta, sebesar 27,6% siswa kesulitan prinsip, sebesar 37% siswa kesulitan prinsip, dan 57% kesulitan operasi matematika. Berdasarkan data kualitatif dari subjek penelitian diperoleh bahwa siswa kategori nilai rendah, kategori nilai sedang, dan kategori tinggi masih menghadapi 4 jenis kesulitan yaitu kesulitan fakta, konsep, prinsip, dan operasi. Namun, kelompok siswa kategori nilai tinggi hanya 1 siswa yang kesulitan dalam pemahaman konsep. Faktor yang mempengaruhi kesulitan belajar yaitu kondisi kesehatan siswa kurang, sikap belajar siswa yang kurang memperhatikan, kurangnya konsentrasi siswa, rendahnya motivasi siswa dalam belajar, rendahnya minat siswa, lingkungan keluarga siswa kurang mendukung pembelajaran siswa, dan metode mengajar guru yang membuat siswa cepat bosan dan malas dalam belajar. However, in reality, the students of Class 8A at Junior High School 69 Jakarta still face difficulties in understanding the topic of circles. Therefore, this research aims to identify the difficulties and determine the factors that influence the research subjects in Class 8A at Junior High School 69 Jakarta in solving circle problems. This research utilizes a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative methods, with a sequential explanatory design. The instruments used are test and interviews. The first stage involves collecting and analyzing quantitative data. A total of 34 students from Class 8A at Junior High School 69 Jakarta were a circle test and the data were analyzed descriptively. The second stage involves collecting and analyzing qualitative data. Nine students as research subjects and a mathematics teacher will be interviewed regarding the difficulties encountered in the circle test and the factors influencing the difficulties in understanding the topic of circles. Qualitative data were analyzed using trangluation methods. The research finding indicate that based on quantitative data, the students of Class 8A at Junior High School 69 Jakarta experience difficulties, 82,9% of students facing factual difficulties, 27,6% facing conceptual difficulties, 37% facing principal difficulties, and 57% facing mathematical operation difficulties. Based on the qualitative data from the research subjects, it was found that students with low, medium, and high grades experience all four types of difficulties: factual, conceptual, principal, and operational difficulties. However, among the group of students with high grades only one student encountered difficulties in understanding the concepts. The factors influencing learning difficulties include students’ health condition are lacking, students’ learning attitudes are less attentive, lack of student concentration, low motivation to learn, lack of student interest, unsupportive family learning environment, and teaching methods that make students quickly bores and disinterested in learning.
