Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti persepsi siswa-siswi pelajar bahasa inggris mengenai penggunaan lagu Bahasa Inggris untuk meningkatkan kosakata. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMPN 13 Tambun Selatan pada bulan April hingga Mei 2021. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif untuk mengumpulkan data. Karena Covid-19, penelitian ini dilakukan melalui Google Form dan WhatsApp aplikasi. Data yang di kumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner online sebagai instrumen dan di analisis dengan menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif. Kuesioner terdiri dari 27 pernyataan. Penelitian ini melibatkan 104 responden untuk mengisi kuesioner. Para peserta diambil dari murid kelas VII, VIII dan IX. Berdasarkan data analisis, dapat disimpulkan bahwa sebagian besar murid SMPN 13 Tambun Selatan menyatakan bahwa penggunaan lagu Bahasa Inggris sangat membantu dalam meningkatkan kosakata. Data persepsi siswa yang terdiri dari indikator minat, indikator efektivitas, indikator kemudahan dan indikator kegunaan menunjukan bahwa 2,95% menyatakan sangat tidak setuju, 5,48% menyatakan tidak setuju, 21,54% menyatakan netral, 31,55% menyatakan setuju dan 38.46% menyatakan sangat setuju. Kata Kunci: Persepsi Siswa, Lagu Bahasa Inggris mengembangkan kosa kata./This study aims to investigate the students’ perception on the Use of English songs to Improve Students’ Vocabulary. The study was conducted at SMPN 13 Tambun Selatan from April until May 2021. A quantitative method was used in this study. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this study was conducted through Google Form and WhatsApp application. The data were collected using an online questionnaire as the instrument and analyzed using the descriptive analysis technique. The questionnaire consisted of 27 questions. This study involved 104 respondents to fill out a questionnaire. The participants were taken from students in classes VII, VIII, and IX. Based on data analysis, it was concluded that the majority of students at SMPN 13 Tambun Selatan stated that the use of English songs greatly helps to improve students’ vocabulary. The Whole Data of each indicator i.e., the interests, the effectiveness, the easiness, and the usefulness were showed that 2,95% stated strongly disagreed, 5,48% stated disagreed, 21,54% stated neutral, 31,55% stated agreed and 38,46% answered strongly agreed.
