Abstract

Kesenian lenong merupakan seni pertunjukan tradisional khas masyarakat Betawi yang keberadaannya semakin terdesak oleh arus modernisasi Jakarta. Perubahan gaya hidup dan dominasi budaya populer global menyebabkan generasi muda semakin jauh dari kesenian tradisional, sehingga upaya pelestarian lenong menjadi semakin mendesak. Karya ini bertujuan untuk mendokumentasikan dan mengedukasi masyarakat mengenai sejarah, fungsi sosial, serta nilai-nilai budaya yang terkandung dalam kesenian lenong melalui media video dokumenter, sekaligus membangun kesadaran akan pentingnya pelestarian warisan budaya Betawi. Penciptaan karya ini menggunakan teknik ekspositori sebagai pendekatan utama dalam membangun narasi dokumenter. Teknik ini diterapkan melalui narasi sulih suara yang informatif dan terarah, wawancara dengan empat narasumber yang memiliki keterlibatan langsung dalam kesenian lenong. Proses penciptaan karya meliputi tiga tahap, yaitu pra produksi, produksi, dan pasca produksi, yang dilaksanakan mulai Juli 2025 hingga Maret 2026. Hasil karya berupa video dokumenter berdurasi 12 menit yang menampilkan Lenong tidak hanya sebagai hiburan tradisional, tetapi juga sebagai bagian dari identitas budaya Betawi yang terus dipertahankan. Pendekatan ekspositori terbukti efektif dalam menyampaikan informasi budaya secara jelas, faktual, dan mudah dipahami, terutama ketika dikombinasikan dengan pendekatan human interest melalui tokoh Yasmine Kusuma, pemain lenong berusia 14 tahun, yang merepresentasikan keterlibatan generasi muda dalam pelestarian budaya Betawi. Kata Kunci: Lenong, Teknik Ekspositori, Video Dokumenter, Budaya Betawi, Pelestarian Budaya. / Lenong is a traditional performing art of the Betawi people whose existence is increasingly threatened by Jakarta's rapid modernization. Shifts in lifestyle and the dominance of global popular culture have led younger generations to grow more distant from traditional arts, making the preservation of lenong an urgent matter. This work aims to document and educate the public about the history, social functions, and cultural values embedded in lenong through a documentary video, while also raising awareness of the importance of preserving Betawi cultural heritage. This work was created using the expository technique as the primary approach in building the documentary's narrative. The technique was applied through informative and structured voice-over narration, along with interviews with four sources who are directly involved in lenong. The creative process consisted of three stages, namely pre-production, production, and post-production, carried out from July 2025 to March 2026. The resulting work is a 12-minute documentary that presents lenong not merely as traditional entertainment, but as an enduring part of Betawi cultural identity. The expository approach proved effective in conveying cultural information clearly, factually, and accessibly, particularly when combined with a human interest angle through the figure of Yasmine Kusuma, a 14-year-old Lenong performer who represents the involvement of young people in the preservation of Betawi culture.
