Abstract

Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan bentuk-bentuk dari objektifikasi perempuan dan apa saja hal yang melatarbelakanginya di adaptasi anime Death Note 2: The Last Name (2006), sebuah adaptasi live-action dari animasi Jepang yang disutradarai oleh Shûsuke Kaneko. Adaptasi animasi Jepang ini menceritakan tentang perjalanan Light Yagami, seorang mahasiswa cerdas yang menemukan buku berjudul Death Note, di mana buku tersebut dapat membunuh manusia dengan cara menuliskan nama orang yang ingin dibunuh di dalamnya. Dengan kemampuan magis yang dihasilkan buku ini, Light Yagami menjadi terobsesi terhadap kekuatan yang tak terbatas dan mulai memanfaatkan kecerdasannya, juga orang-orang di sekitarnya. Buku Death Note yang kedua ternyata digunakan juga oleh seorang aktris bernama Misa Amane, yang kemudian jatuh cinta kepada Light Yagami dan menyerahkan dirinya untuk menjadi alat Light Yagami dalam menjalankan rencananya. Memanfaatkan situasi ini, Light Yagami menggunakan Misa Amane sebagai objek, guna menutupi identitas aslinya. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan teori objektifikasi Martha Nussbaum dan Rae Langton tentang sepuluh cara mengobjektifikasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah ditemukannya bentuk objektifikasi oleh Light Yagami kepada Misa Amane dengan cara violabilitas, penolakan otonomi, inersia, penolakan subjektivitas, alat pembantu, kepemilikan, dan pembungkaman. Adapun penyebabnya adalah gangguan kepribadian narsistik, pembatasan diri, penggunaan ego, dan kecemasan atas kematian yang dialami oleh sang karakter utama, yaitu Light Yagami. Terlepas dari penyebab-penyebab tersebut, Misa Amane yang lugu dan mencintai Light Yagami dengan tulus pun turut andil dalam menyerahkan dirinya sendiri untuk diobjektifikasi. Karakterisasi Misa Amane sebagai seorang perempuan yang dianggap lemah dan mudah dimanipulasi karena masa lalunya membuat Light Yagami secara sadar memanfaatkan perasaan cinta dan keadaan Misa Amane. / This paper aims to show the forms of objectification of women and the reasons behind them in the anime adaptation of Death Note 2: The Last Name (2006), a live-action adaptation of a Japanese animation directed by Shûsuke Kaneko. This Japanese animation adaptation tells the journey of Light Yagami, a smart university student who finds a book called Death Note, in which the book can kill humans by writing the name of the person they want to kill in the book. With the magical abilities this book produces, Light Yagami becomes obsessed with unlimited power and begins to take advantage of his intelligence, as well as those around him. It turns out that the second Death Note book was also used by an actress named Misa Amane, who later fell in love with Light Yagami and gave herself up to become Light Yagami's tool in carrying out his plans. Taking advantage of this situation, Light Yagami uses Misa Amane as an object, in order to cover up his true identity. This research was conducted using Martha Nussbaum and Rae Langton's theory of objectification about ten ways of objectifying. The result of this research is that Light Yagami finds forms of objectification towards Misa Amane by means of violability, denial of autonomy, inertness, denial of subjectivity, instrumentality, possession, and silencing. The causes are narcissistic personality disorder, boundaries to self, the use of ego, and anxiety over death experienced by the main character, Light Yagami. Apart from these causes, Misa Amane, who is innocent and loves Light Yagami sincerely, also contributes in giving herself up to be objectified. Misa Amane's characterization as a woman who is considered submissive and easy to be manipulated due to her past makes Light Yagami consciously take advantage of Misa Amane's feelings of love and circumstances.
