Abstract

Citra tubuh merupakan suatu bentuk persepsi, evaluasi dan sikap dari hasil pemikiran individu terhadap bentuk tubuh yang mengarah kepada penampilan fisik tubuhnya melalui penginderaan dan penghayatan, yang dapat memengaruhi pandangan individu terhadap gambaran tubuhnya dan menimbulkan sebuah perasaan dari evaluasi tersebut sehingga dapat memengaruhi mental individu dan konsep dirinya. Karakteristik dari citra tubuh yang dimiliki setiap masing-masing individu berbeda dikarenakan memiliki pandangannya tersendiri baik itu pada mahasiswa sebagai remaja akhir berjenis kelamin laki-laki maupun perempuan. Perempuann pada dasarnya menyukai dan mementingkan penampilan serta acap kali membandingkan dirinya terhadap apa yang dilihat seperti pada media sosial sehingga mempengaruhi mental maupun konsep diri melalui cara pandang terhadap tubuhnya. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat perbedaan citra tubuh mahasiswa pengguna media sosial berdasarkan jenis kelamin di Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Kristen Indonesia. Peneliti tertarik dengan judul penelitian mengenai citra tubuh, karena peneliti melihat adanya permasalahan mengenai citra tubuh terhadap perempuan berbeda dengan laki-laki melalui wawancara awal. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kuantitatif komparatif. Subjek penelitian rmahasiswa sebagai remaja akhir berusia 18-25 tahun. Hasil analisis data penelitian yang didapat yaitu 0.092 (p > 0.05) yang disimpulkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan citra tubuh yang signifikan antara mahasiswa berjenis kelamin laki-laki dan perempuan sebagai remaja akhir menuju dewasa awal pengguna media sosial di FKIP UKI. / Body image is a form of perception, evaluation and attitude from the results of individual thinking about body shape that leads to the physical appearance of the body through sensing and appreciation, which can influence the individual’s view of the body image and cause a feeling from this evaluation so that it can affect the individual’s mentality and concept himself. The characteristics of the body image that each individual has are different because they have their own views on both male and female students as late adolescents. Woman basically like and care about appearance and often compare themselves to what they see on social media so that it affects their mentality and self-concept through the way they see their body. This research was conducted with the aim of knowing whether there are differences in the body image of students using social media based on gender at the Teaching and Education Faculty, Indonesian Christian University. The researcher is interested in the title of the research on body image, because the researcher sees a problem regarding the body image of woman which is different from that of men through initial interviews. This Study uses a type of comparative quantitative research. Student research subjects as late adolescents aged 18-25 years. The results of the research data analysis obtained were 0.092 (p > 0.05) which concluded that there was no significant difference in body image between male and female students as late adolescents to early adulthood social media users at FKIP UKI.
