Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesulitan yang dihadapi siswa ketika menyelesaikan soal operasi aljabar berdasarkan kriteria kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Studi ini dilakukan untuk memahami faktor-faktor yang menguasai kesulitan siswa dalam memecahkan masalah aljabar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Subyek penelitian terdiri dari 35 siswa kelas VII-G di SMP N 8 Tambun Selatan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, tes, angket, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan model analisis data Miles dan Huberman. Keabsahan data diperiksa melalui tringulasi metode. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 35 siswa yang diteliti: 1) terdapat 61% siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam tahap memahami masalah, 2) terdapat 57% siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam tahap merencanakan penyelesaian, 3) terdapat 73% siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam tahap melaksanakan rencana, dan 4) terdapat 86% siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam tahap memeriksa kembali. Faktor utama yang mempengaruhi kesulitan tersebut pemahaman siswa terkait konsep dasar aljabar, kesulitan dalam menerapkan konsep matematika ke dalam konteks aljabar dan keterampilan pemecahan masalah yang masih kurang berkembang. Dalam memahami masalah matematika dan merumuskan langkah-langkah yang dibutuhkan untuk menyelesaikannya, siswa seringkali menghadapi kesulitan. Kata Kunci: Kesulitan Siswa, Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematika, Aljabar. / This study aims to analyze the difficulties faced by students when solving algebraic operation problems based on the criteria of problem solving ability. This study was conducted to understand the factors that master students' difficulties in solving algebraic problems. This research used descriptive method with qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of 35 students of class VII-G at SMP N 8 Tambun Selatan. Data were collected through observation, tests, questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman data analysis model. Data validity was checked through method tringulation. The results showed that of the 35 students studied: 1) 61% of students had difficulty in understanding the problem, 2) 57% of students had difficulty in planning the solution, 3) 73% of students had difficulty in carrying out the plan, and 4) 86% of students had difficulty in checking back. The main factors that influence these difficulties are students' understanding of basic algebraic concepts, difficulties in applying mathematical concepts to the algebraic context and underdeveloped problem solving skills. In understanding math problems and formulating the steps needed to solve them, students often face difficulties. Keywords: Student Difficulties, Mathematical Problem Solving Ability, Algebra.
