Abstract
Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan permasahan identitas apa saja yang tampak pada ketiga cerita pendek Indonesia terjemahan terpilih yaitu Forbidden to Love Flowers oleh Kuntowijoyo, Ancestors oleh Rainy M.P Hutabarat dan Oh, What A Beautiful Woman oleh Ratna Indraswari Ibrahim. Cerita pendek Forbidden to Love Flowers oleh Kuntowijoyo menceritakan tentang seorang anak laki-laki bernama Buyung yang mencintai hal-hal yang berbau keindahan seperti lebih menyukai bunga-bunga. Cerita pendek Ancestors oleh Rainy M.P Hutabarat menceritakan seorang anak perempuan bernama Roito yang sangat penasaran dengan nenek moyangnya dan akhirnya mendapatkan jawaban bahwa keturunan mereka tidak boleh mengunjungi makam nenek moyangnya karena akan mendapatkan kutukan. Cerita pendek Oh, What A Beautiful Woman oleh Ratna Indraswari Ibrahim menceritakan tentang seorang perempuan bernama Nikita yang merasa bahwa suaminya tidak mau mengakui kecantikannya, suaminya malah menyuruhnya untuk fokus di dapur dan anak-anak saja daripada mewujudkan impian Nikita yang ingin menjadi bintang film. Penulis menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dan dengan menggunakan teori karakterisasi, identitas dan gender stereotipe. Hasil dari penelitian ini penulis menemukan karakterisasi masing-masing tokoh, permasalahan identitas apa yang tampak dalam setiap cerita dan bagaimana tokoh utama mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Pada masing-masing cerita pendek penulis menemukan permasalahan identitas gender (maskulinitas-feminitas), identitas adat budaya dan keyakinan, dan identitas diri (citra diri perempuan). Kata kunci: karakterisasi, identitas gender (maskulinitas-feminitas), identitas adat budaya dan keyakinan, dan identitas diri (citra diri perempuan). / This paper aims to show what identity problems appear in the three selected Indonesian translated short stories, namely Forbidden to Love Flowers by Kuntowijoyo, Ancestors by Rainy M.P. Hutabarat, and Oh, What a Beautiful Woman by Ratna Indraswari Ibrahim. The short story Forbidden to Love Flowers by Kuntowijoyo tells about a boy named Buyung who loves things that smell like beauty, such as flowers. The short story Ancestors by Rainy M.P. Hutabarat tells of a girl named Roito who is very curious about her ancestors and finally gets the answer that their descendants cannot visit their ancestral graves because they will get a curse. The short story Oh, What a Beautiful Woman by Ratna Indraswari Ibrahim tells of a woman named Nikita who feels that her husband does not want to acknowledge her beauty; instead, he tells her to focus on the kitchen and her children instead of realizing Nikita's dream of becoming a movie star. The writer uses descriptive qualitative research methods and the theory characterization, identity, and gender stereotypes. With the results of this study, the writer managed to find out about the characterization of each character, what identity problems appear in each story, and how the main character overcomes these problems. In each of the short stories, the writer finds issues of gender identity (masculinity-feminity), cultural customs and belief identity, and self-identity (female self-image).
