Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menyelidiki apakah ada hubungan antara penguasaan tata bahasa siswa dan pencapaian mereka dalam penulisan teks recount. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode korelasi. Ini melibatkan 33 siswa kelas X di SMA YADIKA 13 Tambun pada tahun akademik 2018/2019 sebagai koresponden. Satu dari enam kelas disekolah diambil sesuai dengan guru yang menentukan, kelas-kelas tersebut adalah X-A 2.Untuk mencapai tujuan penelitian, data dikumpulkan dengan melakukan tes. Untuk menilai tes tulis, data dinilai oleh tiga ahli; peneliti, guru bahasa Inggris di SMA YADIKA 13 Tambun dan dosen dari FKIP UKI. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan teknik analisis statistik parametrik melalui program SPSS versi 21.00. Temuan uji normalitas menggunakan Shapiro Wilk menunjukkan distribusi normal; uji homogenitas menggunakan uji Levene menunjukkan variasi yang homogen; dan uji linieritas menggunakan ANOVA menunjukkan linearitas variabel prediktor (X) terhadap variabel kriteria (Y). Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah ada hubungan yang positif antara penguasaan tata bahasa siswa dengan prestasi menulis teks recount di SMA YADIKA 13 Tambun. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari hasil koefisien korelasi sebesar 0, 762 yang lebih besar dari 0, 05. Ini berarti variabel prediktor berkorelasi positif dengan variabel kriteria. Selain itu, nilai kontribusi variabel X terhadap Y adalah 0,580. Itu menyatakan bahwa kontribusi dari tata bahasa dalam penulisan teks recount di SMA YADIKA 13 Tambun adalah 58, 00%. Dalam persamaan regresi menunjukan apabila suatu peningkatan dalam variabel X meningkat akan diikuti oleh kenaikan 1,157 poin pada variabel Y dengan nilai konstan 12,374. Kata kunci: Penelitian korelasi, Penguasaan Tata Bahasa, Pencapaian pada Teks Recount This study was conducted to investigate whether there is a correlation between students’ grammar mastery and their achievement in recount text writing. This research was carried out by using correlational study. It involved 33 students of tenth graders at SMA YADIKA 13 Tambun in 2018/2019 the academic year as correspondents to collect the data. One of six parallel classes was taken as correspondents using purposive sampling technique by asking the teacher, those classes are X - A 2.To achieve the objective, data were collected by administering tests. For assessing the writing test, the data were assessed by three experts, they are a researcher, an English teacher at SMA YADIKA 13 Tambun and a lecturer from FKIP UKI. The data obtained were analyzed using the descriptive statistic and parametric statistical analysis technique through SPSS version 21.00 program. The findings of normality test using Shapiro Wilk showed normal distribution; homogeneity test using Levene’s test showed homogenous variants; and linearity test using ANOVA showed the linearity of the predictor (X) concerning the criterion (Y). The result of this research was that there was positive correlational between students’ grammar mastery and their achievement in recount text writing at SMA YADIKA 13 Tambun. It can be seen from the correlation coefficient result which was as much as .762 that is greater than 0.05. It means the predictor positively correlated with the criterion. Moreover, the contribution value of variable X to Y is .580. It suggested that 58.00% of the predictor predicts the criterion. The regression equation showed that when one point in variable X increases it will be followed by a rise of 1.157 points on variable Y in positive direction with a constant value of 12.374.
