Abstract

In physics subjects students are not only required to memorize physical laws and formulas. The focus of educators is only on the subject matter that must be delivered according to the target time that has been set, so that students do not have enough time to understand more deeply about a material so that students are unable to solve the problem. To solve the problem above, the most important thing that must be built is the method of thinking of students, and students are active directly in learning. Therefore, a lot of research is done to find the right model to improve students' critical thinking skills in physics learning. This study will look at the effect of the hands on activities learning model integrated the time token model on improving students' critical thinking skills. This research was conducted in 42 Jakarta Public High School 2018/2019 school year. This study uses a quasi-experimental method, the sampling technique in this study is purposive random sampling. The instrument used is a test in the form of 12 essay questions. Data analysis by testing hypotheses using Paired Sample T-Test. Based on the results of data analysis obtained sig (2-tailed) smaller than the alpha value of 0.00 <0.05, then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. The average score of posttest results from the experimental class is 74.9 and the control class is 63.7. Of the three indicators, namely the ability to identify problems, provide reasons, and check the truth of a statement obtained results that show that the experimental class students have a better percentage than control class students. The conclusion obtained is that there is a significant influence on the hands-based learning model of integrated Time Token model on improving students' critical thinking skills in the subject matter of harmonic motion.
