Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara dan ketertarikan siswa-siswi kelas IV untuk belajar berbicara dengan menggunakan teknik bercerita di SD Pelangi Kasih. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) terhadap sembilan belas siswa-siswi yaitu sepuluh siswi dan sembilan siswa. Data kuantitatif dianalisa dengan menghitung skor pre-test , post-test I dan II. Berdasarkan hasil data, skor rata-rata pre-test, post-test I II yang masing-masing adalah 50,22, 60,53 dan 73,90, sedangkan pencapaian skor dari pretest ke post-test I adalah 10,31 dan dari post-test I ke post-test II adalah 13,37, dari pre-test ke post-test II adalah 23.68. Data kualitatif diperoleh melalui wawancara dan observasi dianalisa dengan metode deskriptif untuk menggambarkan peningkatan keterampilan berbicara siswa. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa bercerita dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa, disarankan untuk menggunakan metode ini dalam mengajar keterampilan berbahasa. Kata Kunci: PTK, Bercerita, Keterampilan Berbicara The objectives of this research were to improve the learners’ speaking skill and to know their perceptions toward storytelling as a technique in order to improve learners’ speaking skill. This research used action research method toward nineteen learners, ten females and nine males. The quantitative data were analyzed by computing the learners’ pre-test, post-test I and II. Based on the data result, the mean of the points for pre-test, post-test I and II were 50.22, 60.53 and 73.90. The gain of pre-test to post-test’s points was 10.31, the gain of post-test I to post-test II’ points was 13.37 and the gain of pre-test to post-test II’s points was 23.68. The qualitative data, which were obtained through the interview and observation, were analyzed through descriptive analysis in order to describe the improvement of leaners’ speaking skill. The findings showed that storytelling could improve the learners’ speaking skill. It is recommended to use storytelling as a technique to improve the learners’ speaking skill.
