Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian ini berawal dari persepsi yang timbul dari Guru Sekolah Minggu (GSM) terhadap anak berkebutuhan khusus di Gereja. Persepsi adalah proses penginterprestasian stimulus dari lingkungan sekitar melalui alat indera, sehingga mampu menafsirkan apa yang dilihatnya. Rumusan masalah yang terdapat dalam penelitian ini, yaitu bagaimana persepsi dan pelayanan GSM terhadap anak berkebutuhan khusus. Dengan tujuan penelitian untuk memperoleh gambaran tentang persepsi GSM dan pelayanannya terhadap anak berkebutuhan khusus di Gereja Toraja Jemaat Depok. GSM sebagai pengajar dan pelayan Tuhan harus mampu melayani setiap anak dengan berbagai latar belakang dan kekurangan yang dimilikinya. Mengacu pada teori Sara Litle, bahwa seorang guru harus mampu merancang sesuatu kegiatan pembelajaran yang dapat dimengerti setiap anak, selain itu guru juga harus dapat terlebih dahulu mengenali kebutuhan peserta didiknya. Hal ini dapat dikaitkan dengan anak berkebutuhan khusus dimana guru harus menyesuaikan pengajarannya dengan kondisi dan kebutuhan anak berkebutuhan khusus. Metodologi dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, dengan tiga prosedur tahapan yaitu observasi, wawancara, dan analisis data. Dari hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan dapat terlihat dari setiap persepsi guru menyatakan bahwa mereka memahami dengan baik apa itu anak berkebutuhan khusus dan berpendapat bahwa anak berkebutuhan khusus adalah anak yang berharga seperti anak-anak lainnya, setiap guru memiliki persepsi yang positif dan tidak mendiskriminasi pelayanan terhadap anak berkebutuhan khusus. Dari persepsi dan pemahaman GSM Gereja Toraja Jemaat Depok berdampak kepada cara guru mengajar dan dapat memperlakukan dan menyesuaikan pembelajaran dengan baik. Dapat disimpulkan dari penelitian ini bahwa setiap Guru Sekolah Minggu memiliki persepsi bahwa setiap anak-anak yang datang untuk beribadah harus dilayani dan diajarkan dengan baik, sama seperti Tuhan yang mengasihi setiap anak-anak maka sebagai pelayan Tuhan, guru harus mampu meneladani pelayan-Nya dan berupaya memberikan pengajaran iman kepada anak berkebutuhan khusus dengan baik supaya mereka juga dapat bertumbuh optimal secara rohani. / The background of this research originates from the perceptions that arise from Sunday School Teachers (GSM) towards children with special needs in the Church. Perception is the process of interpreting stimuli from the surrounding environment through the senses, so that they are able to interpret what they see. The formulation of the problem contained in this study, namely how is the perception and service of GSM towards children with special needs. With the aim of the research to obtain an overview of the perceptions of GSM and its services to children with special needs at the Toraja Congregation Depok Church. GSM as a teacher and servant of God must be able to serve every child with various backgrounds and deficiencies they have. Referring to Sara Little's theory, that a teacher must be able to design a learning activity that every child can understand, besides that the teacher must also be able to first identify the needs of his students. This can be related to children with special needs where teachers must adapt their teaching to the conditions and needs of children with special needs. The methodology in this study is a descriptive qualitative approach, with three stages of procedure namely observation, interviews, and data analysis. From the results of the research that has been carried out, it can be seen from each teacher's perception that they understand well what a child with special needs is and argue that children with special needs are valuable children like other children, each teacher has a positive perception and does not discriminate against services to the child with special needed. From the perception and understanding of the GSM of the Toraja Church of the Depok Congregation it has an impact on the way teachers teach and can treat and adapt learning well. It can be concluded from this study that every Sunday School Teacher has the perception that every child who comes to worship must be served and taught well, just as God loves every child so as God's servant, the teacher must be able to emulate His servant and seeks to provide good teaching of faith to children with special needs so that they can also grow optimally spiritually.
