Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara motivasi belajar siswa dan pencapaian berbicara mereka di Fakultas Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris reguler di Universitas Kristen Indonesia. Metode penelitian adalah survei kuesioner dengan penelitian korelasional. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah kuesioner dan kuantitatif. Peneliti menggunakan instrumen skala likert untuk menganalisis kuesioner dan memperoleh nilai berbicara bahasa inggris siswa dari dosen mata kuliah berbicara Universitas Kristen Indonesia. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa di kelas Bahasa Inggris Program Studi Pengajaran Bahasa Inggris (ETSP) di Universitas Kristen Indonesia yang mempelajari berbicara terintegrasi di Keterampilan Bahasa Inggris Terpadu.Sampel penelitianadalah 36 siswa sebagai sampel. Itu diambil dari populasi penelitian dengan menggunakan teknik metode total sampling di mana peneliti mengambil dua kelas dari dua angkatan. Mahasiswa angkatan 2016 dan angkatan 2017 kelas reguler. Data kuantitatif dianalisis menggunakan SPSS versi 17.0. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan positif antara motivasi siswa dan prestasi berbicara mereka di Universitas Kristen Indonesia adalah 0,656 sebagai korelasi koefisien. Korelasi menunjukkan bahwa korelasi tinggi dan memiliki hubungan positif antara motivasi siswa dan pencapaian berbicara bahasa inggris mereka di Universitas Kristen Indonesia. Hipotesis ditemukan signifikansinya adalah 0,000<0,01, dimana dapat disimpulkan H0 ditolak. Determinasi koefisien adalah 0,430. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa ada 43% motivasi mahasiswa menyumbang pencapaian berbicara bahasa inggris, sedangkan 57% dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain yang tidak diuji dalam penelitian ini. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh antara dan pencapaian berbicara bahasa inggris mereka. Kata kunci: Motivasi Siswa, Pencapaian Berbicara Bahasa Inggris. The objective of this research was to find out the correlation between students’ motivation and their Speaking achievement in regular class English Teaching Study Program at Universitas Kristen Indonesia. The research method was survey questionnaire with correlational research. The technique for data analysis were questionnaire and quantitative. The instrument that used were questionnaire with Likert-scale model and speaking score which got from English teacher at Universitas Kristen Indonesia. The population of this research was the regular stduents of English Teaching Study Program (ETSP) at Universitas Kristen Indonesia those who study Speaking in Integrated English Skill. The researcher was took 36 students as samples. It was taken from the population of the research by using total sampling method technique where the researcher took two classes out of two batch class. It was batch 2016 and batch 2017 regular class. The quantitative data was analyzed using SPSS version 17.0. The result revealed that there was the positive relationship between students’ motivation and their Speaking achievement at Universitas Kristen Indonesia was 0.656 as correlation coefficient. It showed that the correlation was high and positive between students’ motivation and their Speaking achievement at Universitas Kristen Indonesia. The hypothesis showed significances value 0.000<0.01, It means the rejection of H0. The coefficient of determination was 0.430. It showed that there was 43% of speaking achievement (Y) was contributed by students’ motivation (X), while 57% was determined by other factors not examined in this research. It can be concluded that students’ motivation can influence their speaking achievement. Kata kunci: Students’ Motivation, Speaking Achievement.
