Abstract

Fenomena budaya populer yang diciptakan Korea Selatan melalui Korean Wave atau Hallyu yang merupakan istilah penyebaran global budaya Korea. Korean Wave adalah sikap dan tindakan nyata pemerintah dan masyarakat Korea Selatan dalam mendukung budaya negara khususnya melalui industri musik yang dibawa oleh beberapa idol K-Pop khususnya Bangtan Sonyeondan(BTS) dalam membangun citra negara dengan memperkenalkan identitas ekonomi, dan budayanya sekaligus mencapai kepentingan nasional dalam berbagai bidang kerjasama seperti di Amerika Serikat.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menjelaskan lebih dalam peran dan pengaruh Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS) membawa Korean Wave dalam menyebarkan budaya populer Korea Selatan di Amerika Serikat,dengan menggunakan teori diplomacy multi-track,perilaku sosial(social behavior),dan budaya populer.Hasil temuan penelitian ini melihat bahwa strategi yang dilakukan BTS dalam menyebarkan budaya Korea Selatan telah berhasil yang mana dapat dilihat melalui popularitas BTS yang mendunia. Peran Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS) dalam membawa Korean Wave melalui musik K-Pop ke masyarakat Amerika Serikat mampu membawa pengaruh besar di kalangan remaja hingga usia lanjut. Baik fans remaja maupun usia lanjut tertarik melihat keberadaan BTS sebagai boyband Korea Selatan yang membawa pengaruh positif bagi masyarakat Amerika Serikat./ The phenomenon of popular culture created by South Korea through the Korean Wave or Hallyu which is a term for the global spread of Korean culture. Korean Wave is the real attitude and action of the government and people of South Korea in supporting the country'sculture, especially through the music industry brought by several K-Pop idols, especially Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS) in building the country's image by introducing its economic and cultural identity while at the same time achieving national interest invarious fields of cooperation such as in the United States. This study aims to find out and explain more deeply the role and influence of Bangtan Sonyeondan(BTS) in bringing the Korean Wave inspreading South Korean popular culture in the United States, using the theory of multi-track diplomacy, social behavior (social behavior), and popular culture. The findings of this study see that the strategy carried out by BTS inspreading South Korean culture has been successful which can be seen through the worldwide popularity of BTS. The role of Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS) in bringing the Korean Wave through K-Pop music to American society isable to bring a big influence among teenagers to old age. Both teenage and elderly fans are interested in seeing the existence of BTS as a South Korean boy band that brings a positive influence to thepeople of the United States.
