Abstract

Musik Batak merupakan musik tradisional Indonesia dari Sumatera Utara yang merupakan instrumen penting dalam setiap kegiatan suku Batak, baik acara hiburan, ritual keagamaan, ataupun berbagai acara lainnya. Di sisi lain, musik juga merupakan salah satu instrumen yang dapat digunakan sebagai alat diplomasi dan promosi. Topik ini penting untuk dikaji karena akar permasalahannya berangkat dari Belanda yang menjajah Indonesia, kemudian seiring berjalannya waktu terjalin diplomasi melalui musik Batak di Belanda. Rumusan masalah yang diangkat adalah bagaimana musik Batak dipergunakan sebagai alat untuk mempererat kemitraan strategis Indonesia – Belanda tahun 2010-2012. Musik Batak yang merupakan budaya asli Indonesia telah digunakan sebagai alat diplomasi kebudayaan dalam mencapai kepentingan nasional Indonesia di Belanda. Dalam memecahkan masalah penelitian, skripsi ini menggunakan konsep diplomasi kebudayaan dan kepentingan nasional dengan metode penelitian kualitatif. Hasil dari skripsi ini menjelaskan bahwa diplomasi musik Batak merupakan bentuk diplomasi yang cukup baik dan telah berhasil mencapai kepentingan nasional Indonesia di Belanda yang contoh pengaruhnya dapat dilihat dalam peningkatan jumlah wisatawan, perdagangan dan juga investasi./ Batak music is Indonesian traditional music from North Sumatra which is an important instrument in every activity of the Batak tribe, be it entertainment events, religious rituals, or various other events. On the other hand, music is also an instrument that can be used as a means of diplomacy and promotion. This topic is important to study because the root of the problem came from the Dutch colonizing Indonesia, then over time diplomacy was established through Batak music in the Netherlands. The formulation of the problem raised is how Batak music is used as a tool to strengthen the strategic partnership between Indonesia and the Netherlands in 2010-2012. Batak music, which is the original culture of Indonesia, has been used as a tool of cultural diplomacy in achieving Indonesia's national interests in the Netherlands. In solving research problems, this thesis uses the concept of cultural diplomacy and national interests with qualitative research methods. The results of this thesis explain that Batak music diplomacy is a fairly good form of diplomacy and has succeeded in achieving Indonesia's national interests in the Netherlands, an example of its influence can be seen in the increase in the number of tourists, trade and investment.
