Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kebiasaan siswa dalam menononton film Bahasa Inggris dan penguasaan kosakata mereka pada siswa kelas 11 di SMA 17 Agustus 1945 Jakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode korelasi. Jumlah partisipasi dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 56 siswa yang menggunakan teknik random sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner dan test kosakata. Analisis deskriptif dengan menggunakan Spearman Correlation Product. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, ditemukan bahwa r –hitung (0.019) < rtable (0.279) dengan nilai signifikansi yang lebih besar dari 0.05. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut disimpulkan bahwa tidak terdapat korelasi yang signifikan antara kebiasaan siswa dalam menonton film Bahasa Inggris terhadap penguasaan kosakata mereka, namun tetap ada korelasi yang lemah. Kata Kunci: Film, korelasi, kebiasaan, penguasaan kosakata./ The aim of this study to investigate the correlation between students’ habit in watching English movie and their vocabulary mastery of the eleventh grade students of SMA 17 Agustus 1945 Jakarta. This research was correlational method. The total of the participant was 56 students which were selected by random sampling technique. The data collected used questionnaire and test. Descriptive statistic, Spearman product was employed to analyze the data. Based on the data analysis, it was found that r hitung (0.019) < rtable (0.279) which significant value was higher 0.05. So, it indicated that there was no significant correlation between students’ habit in watching English movie and their vocabulary mastery, but still there was weak correlation.
