Abstract

Sarkasme merupakan salah satu bentuk bahasa figuratif yang digunakan untuk menyampaikan kritik, kekecewaan, ejekan, atau sikap negatif secara tidak langsung. Karena makna sarkastik sangat bergantung pada konteks, maksud komunikatif, dan latar belakang budaya, penerjemahan sarkasme dari satu bahasa ke bahasa lain menjadi suatu tantangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis sarkasme yang terdapat dalam album Man's Best Friend karya Sabrina Carpenter serta menganalisis teknik penerjemahan yang digunakan untuk menerjemahkan ungkapan sarkastik tersebut ke dalam bahasa Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan Qualitative Content Analysis (QCA). Data penelitian berupa lirik lagu berbahasa Inggris beserta terjemahannya dalam bahasa Indonesia yang diperoleh dari platform Musixmatch. Meskipun album ini terdiri atas dua belas lagu, hanya sembilan lagu yang dipilih karena mengandung ungkapan sarkastik yang sesuai dengan kriteria sarkasme menurut Camp (2011). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 22 ungkapan sarkastik yang terdiri atas tiga jenis sarkasme, yaitu illocutionary sarcasm, propositional sarcasm, dan lexical sarcasm. Illocutionary sarcasm merupakan jenis yang paling dominan dengan 12 data. Penelitian ini juga menemukan enam teknik penerjemahan berdasarkan teori Molina dan Albir (2002), yaitu modulasi, terjemahan harfiah, padanan lazim, peminjaman, adaptasi, dan variasi. Teknik modulasi merupakan teknik yang paling banyak digunakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerjemahan sarkasme memerlukan tidak hanya kemampuan linguistik, tetapi juga pemahaman terhadap konteks, maksud komunikatif, dan aspek budaya untuk mempertahankan efek sarkastik dalam bahasa sasaran. Kata kunci: sarkasme, teknik penerjemahan, penerjemahan sarkasme, lirik lagu, Sabrina Carpenter. / Sarcasm is a form of figurative language used to express criticism, disappointment, mockery, or negative attitudes through indirect expressions. Because sarcastic meaning is closely related to context, communicative intention, and cultural background, translating sarcasm from one language to another can be challenging. This study aims to identify the types of sarcasm found in Sabrina Carpenter's Man's Best Friend album and to analyze the translation techniques used to translate those sarcastic expressions into Indonesian. This study employed a qualitative method using Qualitative Content Analysis (QCA). The data consisted of English song lyrics and their Indonesian translations obtained from the Musixmatch platform. Although the album contains twelve songs, only nine songs were selected because they contain sarcastic expressions that meet the criteria proposed by Camp (2011). The findings revealed 22 sarcastic expressions categorized into three types: illocutionary sarcasm, propositional sarcasm, and lexical sarcasm. Illocutionary sarcasm was the most dominant type, with 12 occurrences. The study also identified six translation techniques based on Molina and Albir's (2002) theory, namely modulation, literal translation, established equivalent, borrowing, adaptation, and variation. Modulation was found to be the most frequently used technique. The findings indicate that translating sarcastic expressions requires not only linguistic competence but also a thorough understanding of contextual meaning, communicative intention, and cultural aspects to preserve the sarcastic effect in the target language.
