Abstract

Huria Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP) adalah suatu organisasi Kristen Protestan yang terbesar di Indonesia. Dengan jumlah jemaat keseluruhan sekitar 4,5 juta jiwa HKBP, gedung gerejanya tersebar di seluruh Indonesia, bahkan di banyak negara di dunia. Jumlah jemaat yang banyak ini memunculkan banyak perbedaan dalam cara berpikir, dan bila perbedaan pemikiran ini tidak terjembatani dengan baik maka timbul sejumlah konflik di tubuh HKBP, dan ini berlangsung hampir tidak berhenti sejak didirikannya pada tahun 1861 sampai dengan saat ini. Sementara itu teori mengatakan bahwa untuk menyelamatkan organisasi yang disebabkan banyak konflik, komunikasi perlu dibangun. Di perjalanan perkembangan ilmu komunikasi ditemukan pengembangan tipe komunikasi yang disebut Keasertifan. Keasertifan adalah tipe komunikasi yang berasal dari kejujuran dan ketegasan dalam menghargai diri sendiri tetapi tidak merendahkan hak orang lain. Dari pelacakan atas sejumlah penelitian tentang Keasertifan yang pernah ditemukan, ditemui bahwa relung yang belum banyak dimasuki adalah pada organisasi keagamaan HKBP. Karena umumnya dalam banyak penelitian terdahulu tentang Keasertifan, ditemui bahwa Keasertifan sebagai suatu alat yang baik banyak diaplikasikan untuk berbagai kebutuhan organisasi. Akan tetapi belum ditemui adanya penelitian yang menyatakan apa saja penyebab terjadinya suatu Keasertifan. Sebagai penelitian perintis, untuk mendapatkan kepastian akan penyebab Keasertifan, penelitian ini mengambil Subyek Analisis yaitu HKBP dan menilik perjalanan pengelolaan organisasional selama ini, Penulis memutuskan mengambil data sejumlah Pendeta di HKBP tertua dan besar diJakarta. Metode yang digunakan adalah Metode Kuantitatif Eksplanatif berupa Metode Korelasi dan dianalisa dengan Metode Regresi Linier Berganda. Didapati bahwa Pengaruh Tingkat Pendidikan (X1), Usia (X2), Gender (X3) dan Asal Daerah (X4) terhadap Keasertifan (Y) Pendeta HKBP tertua dan besar di Jakarta dalam sampel jenuh Pendetanya menghasilkan persamaan Y = 2,354 + 0,26 X1 + 0,11 X2 + 0,022 X3 + 0,033 X4, dengan Koefisien Korelasi R = 0,823. Kata-kata kunci: HKBP tertua, HKBP besar, Keasertifan, Metode Korelasi, Analisa Regresi Linier Berganda. / Huria Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP) is the biggest Christian Protestant organization in Indonesia. With about 4.5 million members, the churches buildings are found around Indonesia, and at many countries around the world as well. The large number of members in HKBP emerges various opinions and way of thinkings, and if these various opinions and thinkings not matched and managed will cause conflicts, as have been happened so far up to now. It happened since the beginning of HKBP around 1861 up to now wholly or sporadically. This is something not expected. Theories said that one of the best solutions to solve conflicts is to have good communications withing the organization. And within the development of theories it was found a further communication type which is called the assertiveness. Assertiveness lies on honest appreciation and firmness to ourselves but never annihilate the others right. Many researches about assertiveness found, but they are more about how to apply assertiveness to some organizations and relationships. It israrely found researches concerning the causes of assertiveness. This is the gap entered by this research, and the subject to be applied due to the demand is HKBP. As the initial research about causes of assertiveness in HKBP, this research tries to find some causes of assertiveness of pastors in HKBP which are on duty at the oldest and having big members in Jakarta. The whole population of oldest and big membership pastors of HKBP churches in Jakarta were surveyed. The method used in this research is the explanative quantitative method which is known as the Correlation Method, and the analysis to be performed is the Linear Multiple Regression Method. It is found that there is a correlation between Level of Education (X1), Age (X2), Gender (X3) and The initial growing cities (X4) of pastors of oldest and big members of HKBP churches in Jakarta with their assertiveness, and can be formulated as Y = 2,354 + 0,26 X1 + 0,11 X2 + 0,022 X3 + 0,033 X4, with Correlation Coefficient R = 0,823.
