Abstract

Khombo imea adalah lembaga adat masyarakat Suku Sentani yang berfungsi sebagai pusat pendidikan tradisional, spiritual, dan sosial. Lembaga ini memiliki peranan penting dalam mentransmisikan nilai-nilai budaya, pengetahuan lokal, keterampilan hidup, serta spiritualitas kepada generasi muda, khususnya anak laki- laki yang sedang memasuki masa kedewasaan. Di dalam khombo, anak-anak diajarkan berbagai hal yang mencakup pengetahuan tentang silsilah, wilayah adat, etika bermasyarakat, hingga keterampilan seperti berburu, menokok sagu, dan membuat alat-alat tradisional. Khombo imea juga merupakan ruang sakral yang menanamkan kesadaran akan relasi antara manusia, alam, leluhur, dan Tuhan menurut pandangan kosmologis Sentani. Namun, seiring masuknya pengaruh Zending pada tahun 1855 dan berkembangnya pendidikan formal berbasis ajaran Kristen, lembaga ini mulai mengalami transformasi bahkan kemunduran. Nilai- nilai adat yang diwariskan melalui khombo imea mulai dipandang bertentangan dengan ajaran Injil, sehingga banyak aspek pendidikan adat tersingkirkan atau dianggap tidak relevan. Akibatnya, generasi muda kehilangan akses terhadap pendidikan berbasis kearifan lokal, yang berdampak pada krisis identitas, melemahnya struktur sosial, dan menurunnya kesadaran ekologis masyarakat Sentani. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji transformasi khombo imea dalam perspektif pendidikan Kristen dengan tiga fokus utama: (1) perlunya transformasi pendidikan khombo imea dalam perspektif pendidikan Kristen; (2) perlunya pengintegrasian nilai-nilai khombo imea ke dalam pendidikan Kristen; dan (3) perlunya perencanaan kurikulum yang efektif dan kontekstual. Penelitian ini berusaha menawarkan pemahaman baru mengenai bagaimana nilai-nilai khombo imea dapat diintegrasikan secara kreatif dan konstruktif dengan pendidikan Kristen, guna menciptakan sistem pendidikan yang inklusif, menghargai budaya lokal, memperkuat identitas generasi muda, serta menumbuhkan kesadaran ekologis dan solidaritas sosial. Diharapkan, hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi dasar pengembangan kurikulum pendidikan Kristen yang kontekstual namun tetap berakar kuat pada kebenaran Injil. Kata kunci: Khombo Imea, pendidikan Kristen, transformasi budaya, Suku Sentani, kearifan Lokal. / Khombo imea is a traditional institution of the Sentani people that functions as a center for traditional, spiritual, and social education. This institution plays a significant role in transmitting cultural values, local knowledge, life skills, and spirituality to the younger generation, particularly boys entering adolescence. Within the khombo, children are taught various subjects, including genealogy, customary territorial boundaries, social ethics, and practical skills such as hunting, sago processing, and crafting traditional tools. Moreover, khombo imea serves as a sacred space that instills an awareness of the interconnectedness between humans, nature, ancestors, and God, according to the cosmological worldview of the Sentani community. However, with the arrival of Christian missionaries (Zending) in 1855 and the expansion of formal education based on Christian teachings, khombo imea began to undergo transformation and eventual decline. Many traditional values conveyed through this institution came to be viewed as contradictory to Gospel teachings, leading to the marginalization or rejection of indigenous educational practices. As a result, the younger generation has gradually lost access to local wisdom-based education, which has contributed to a cultural identity crisis, the weakening of social structures, and a diminished ecological awareness within the Sentani society. This study aims to examine the transformation of khombo imea from the perspective of Christian education through three main focuses: (1) the need for transforming khombo imea into a Christian educational perspective; (2) the need to integrate khombo imea values into Christian education; and (3) the need for an effective and contextual curriculum planning model. This research seeks to offer a renewed understanding of how khombo imea values can be creatively and constructively integrated with Christian education to establish an inclusive educational system that respects local culture, strengthens youth identity, and fosters ecological awareness and social solidarity. The findings are expected to serve as a foundation for developing a contextual Christian education curriculum that remains firmly rooted in the truth of the Gospel.
