Abstract

This study was conducted to enhance the second graders English vocabulary using YouTube video clips. To attain the objectives, data were collected through tests, observation during the process of carrying out a two-cycle classroom action research in Second Graders of Stella Maris during the event semester of 2012/2013 Academic Year. Using 22 students in the class as subjects, the action research was conducted by providing videos. The results showed that Improving Second Graders’ English Vocabulary Using YouTube Video Clips at Stella Maris School Bumi Serpong Damai. This is seen from the increase of the students’ score average, i.e 13 % (pre-test result on clothes), 0 % (pre-test result on fruits and vegetables) to 27% (post-test of cycle 1 on clothes), 0 % (post-test of cycle 1 on fruits and vegetables) to 14 % (post-test of cycle 2 on clothes), and 0 % (post-test of cycle 2 on fruits and vegetables). Based on the findings and discussion, it was recommended to carry out similar action research on students of educational lower levels, and to employ other types of interesting media.
