Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan bagaimana film Upin dan Ipin sebagai bentuk dukungan terhadap harmonitas budaya Melayu, Tionghoa, dan India. Adanya kesenjangan sosial yang terjadi di Malaysia dikarenakan adanya perbedaan etnis mengingatkan historis hubungan multikultural budaya di Malaysia di masa lampau yang pernah mengalami konflik horizontal, yaitu kerusuhan rasial etnis. Film animasi Upin dan Ipin diharapkan menjadi media dukungan Malaysia untuk keharmonisan budaya yang saat ini menjadi instrumen diplomasi publik Malaysia. menghindarkan negara dari adanya konflik yang muncul antar negara. Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana bentuk dukungan Malaysia terhadap harmonitas budaya Melayu, Tionghoa, India. Konsep diplomasi publik yang digunakan oleh Malaysia bertujuan untuk mencapai kepentingan nasional negara melalui understanding, influencinig foreign audiences, and informing. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori multikulturalism dan konsep diplomasi publik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif. Diharapkan agar penelitian ini bisa membuka wawasan masyarakat lebih luas tentang Negara Malaysia. / This study aims to explain how the Upin and Ipin films are a form of support for the harmony of Malay, Chinese, and Indian cultures. Malaysia's efforts in building the image of a multicultural country. Seeing the response from the audience who feels the harmony of three different cultures in a country is represented in an animated film. The existence of social inequality that occurs in Malaysia due to ethnic differences reminds the history of multicultural cultural relations in Malaysia in the past which had experienced horizontal conflicts, namely racial and ethnic riots. The animated film Upin and Ipin is expected to be a medium for Malaysia's support for cultural harmony which is currently chosen as well as an instrument of Malaysian public diplomacy to maintain good relations between countries and prevent the country from conflicts that arise between countries. The problem in this research is how Malaysia supports the harmony of Malay, Chinese and Indian cultures. The concept of public diplomacy used by Malaysia aims to achieve the country's national interest through understanding, influencing foreign audiences, and informing. This study uses the theory of multiculturalism and the concept of public diplomacy. The method used in this research is qualitative. It is hoped that this research can open up wider public knowledge about Malaysia.
