Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan kata-kata dan frasa-frasa yang mengandung makna konotatif di novel berjudul Raumanen.versi bahasa Inggris, dan untuk kemudian dicari kembali makna dari kata-kata dan frasa-frasa tersebut ke dalam makna denotatif sesuai dengan makna pada kamus. Alasan mengapa peneliti juga mencari makna denotatif yaitu karena peneliti ingin menunjukan kedua contoh terjemahan kata-kata dan frasa-frasa ke dalam makna konotatif dan makna denotatif. Terdapat 34 data yang peneliti temukan pada novel tersebut, namun hanya 21 data yang dianalisis. Seperti yang sudah disebutkan sebelumnya, peneliti mengambil data dari novel bahasa Indonesia yang berjudul Raumanen sebagai bahasa sumber, berserta terjemahan bahasa Inggrisnya yang diterjemahkan oleh Isla Winarto sebagai bahasa sasaran. Oleh karena itu, metode penelitian yang dipakai adalah kualitatif dengan tahapan melakukan penelitian sebagai berikut: 1) Peneliti memilih kata-kata dan frasa- frasa yang memiliki makna konotatif dari novel Raumanen versi bahasa Indonesia. 2) Setelah mengumpulkan kata-kata dan frasa-frasa tersebut, peneliti membandingkannya dengan kata-kata dan frasa-frasa dalam versi bahasa Inggris. 3) Data-data tersebut diproses kembali dalam penyeleksian data oleh peneliti. 4). Akhirnya, peneliti mencari kembali kata-kata dan frasa-frasa yang mengandung makna konotatif tersebut ke dalam kata-kata dan frasa-frasa yang mengandung makna denotatif sesuai definisi pada kamus Kata kunci: terjemahan, makna konotatif, makna denotatif. / This research has purposes to find out the words and phrases containing connotative meaning in the novel entitled Raumanen English version, and to transfer the meaning of the words and phrases containing connotative meaning into denotative meaning according to the meaning at the dictionary. The reason why the researcher also looks for the denotative meaning is because the researcher would like to show both sample words and phrases of translation in terms of connotative meaning and denotative meaning. The researcher got 34 data from the novel, but there were only 21 data to be analyzed. As has been mentioned before, the researcher took the data from the Indonesian novel entitled Raumanen as the source language and its English translation which was translated by Isla Winarto as the target language. Therefore, the method employed is qualitative with the steps of conducting the research are as follows 1) The researcher chose words and phrases which have connotative meaning from the original novel. 2) After collecting the words and phrases, the researcher compared them with the words and phrases from the English version 3) The data were processed through the data-selection by the researcher; and 4) Finally, the researcher looked up the words and phrases of denotative meaning in accordance with the definition at the dictionary.
