Abstract
World Health Organization (WHO) menyatakan khususnya obesitas sebagai penyakit kronis. / Overweight (overweight and obesity) is a threat to public health. The World Health Organization (WHO) specifically states obesity as a chronic disease. Someone with more nutritional status has a risk of developing anemia compared to normal nutritional status because increased levels of hepcidin in the body can interfere with iron absorption. Obesity is associated with anemia in adults and is considered a proinflammatory factor characterized by the presence of low-grade chronic systemic inflammation. A low-grade chronic systemic inflammatory response in obesity is associated with high leukocyte and neutrophil counts. This study aims to determine the overweight profile and the relationship between obesity and hemoglobin, leukocyte, and neutrophil levels in UKI Faculty of Medicine students 2019-2021. The research method used was analytic correlation with a cross-sectional approach, which was obtained from primary data through measurements of body mass index and examination of hemoglobin, leukocyte and neutrophil levels. The data obtained was processed using the Spearman correlation test. The subjects of this study were 60 people (30 Overweight and 30 obese) who came from UKI FK students class 2019-2021. The Spearman correlation test for the overweight group showed a correlation with hemoglobin (r=-0.132, p=0.488), leukocytes (r=0.210, p=0.265), and neutrophils (r=0.260, p=0.164). Spearman correlation test for the obese group showed a correlation with hemoglobin (r=-0.032, p=0.868), leukocytes (r=0.241, p=0.199), and neutrophils (r=0.157, p=0.406). Based on the available data, it can be concluded that the average BMI profile for the obese group (24.18) for the overweight group (31.78). The correlation test showed a weak (not significant) correlation between obesity and hemoglobin, leukocyte, and neutrophil levels of UKI Faculty of Medicine students 2019-2021. Keywords : Overweight, obesity, hemoglobin, leukocytes, neutrophils
