Abstract

This study examined the correlation between students’ cultural awareness and their writing skills at SMA Negeri 1 Amfoang Selatan. The research used a quantitative correlational method with 82 tenth-grade students as the sample. The data were collected through a cultural awareness questionnaire and a writing test in order to identify the students’ cultural awareness level and writing skills. The results of the correlation analysis showed that the relationship between the two variables was very weak, negative, and not significant, with a Pearson correlation value of -0.062 and a significance value of 0.581. This means that students’ cultural awareness did not have a significant relationship with their writing skills. The findings indicated that other factors, such as vocabulary mastery, grammatical comprehension, motivation, reading habits, and writing practice, could be having a stronger direct effect on students' writing performance./Penelitian ini mengkaji korelasi antara kesadaran budaya siswa dan kemampuan menulis mereka di SMA Negeri 1 Amfoang Selatan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode korelasional kuantitatif dengan 82 siswa kelas sepuluh sebagai sampel. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner kesadaran budaya dan tes menulis untuk mengidentifikasi tingkat kesadaran budaya dan kemampuan menulis siswa. Hasil analisis korelasi menunjukkan bahwa hubungan antara kedua variabel tersebut sangat lemah, negatif dan tidak signifikan, dengan nilai korelasi Pearson sebesar -0,062 dan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,581. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kesadaran budaya siswa tidak memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan kemampuan menulis mereka.
