Abstract
Menjelang pemilihan presiden dan wakil presiden 2019 berbagai meme politik tersebar melalui aplikasi instagram. Pada dasarnya meme dilihat sebagai hiburan, tetapi saat ini penyebaran meme berkaitan dengan tokoh politik di Indonesia. Penelitian ini ingin menganalisis persepsi generasi millenial di Universitas Kristen Indonesia tentang penyebaran meme politik capres dan cawapres pilpres 2019 melalui instagram. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Teori Stimulus-Organisme-Respon. Respon yang dihasilkan dalam penelitian ini merupakan persepsi dari millenial tentang penyebaran meme politik pilpres 2019. Metodologi penelitian menggunakan jenis penelitian deskriptif-kualitatif dengan melakukan wawancara mendalam kepada 5 orang informan. Hasil temuan menunjukkan bahwa generasi millenial menyukai adanya meme di instagram karena memberikan dampak positif seperti menghibur. Akan tetapi penyebaran meme politik pilpres 2019 di instagram banyak memberikan dampak negatif diantaranya sebagian besar menyebarkan kebencian, provokasi dalam kampanye politik dan bernuansa negatif sehingga dapat menimbulkan perpecahan berbangsa dan bernegara. Kata Kunci : Persepsi, Millennial, Meme, Politik dan Instagram Ahead of the 2019 president and vice presidential election various political memes are spread through the Instagram application. Basically memes are seen as entertainment, but now the spread of memes is related to political leaders in Indonesia. This study wants to analyze the perceptions of the millennial generation at the Christian University of Indonesia about the spread of presidential and vice presidential presidential election political memes through Instagram. The theory used in this study is the Stimulus-Organism-Response Theory. The response generated in this study is the perception of the millennium about the spread of political memes in the 2019 presidential election. The research methodology uses a descriptive-qualitative type of research by conducting in-depth interviews with 5 informants. The findings show that millennials like the presence of memes on Instagram because they have a positive impact such as entertaining. However, the spread of the 2019 presidential political meme on Instagram has had a lot of negative effects, most of which spread hatred, provocations in political campaigns and negative nuances so that they could cause a split in the nation and state.
