Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas dubbed video terhadap kemampuan siswa SMPN 80 Jakarta dalam berbicara. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMPN 80 Jakarta. Metode pre eksperimen one group pretest-posttest digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa English club yang berjumlah 47 siswa pada tahun ajaran 2021/2022. Sehubungan dengan Covid-19, penelitian ini dilaksanakan secara daring melalui aplikasi Zoom. Instrumen berupa tes speaking dan rubrik digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dalam penelitian ini. Pre-test dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui kemampuan siswa dalam berbicara. Setelah perlakuan diberikan, post-test diberikan untuk mengetahui kemampuan siswa dalam berbicara setelah menerima perlakuan melakukan video dubbed . Hasil pre-test adalah 57.27 dan hasil post-test adalah 80.50. Untuk menguji hipotesis, penelitian ini menggunakan paired sample t- test untuk melihat pembanding. Hasil t-test menunjukkan bahwa nilai Sig adalah 0.000 yang mana kurang dari Sig. α (0.05). Dengan demikian Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa video dubbed secara signifikan mempengaruhi kemampuan siswa dalam berbicara. Penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa penggunaan video dubbed secara singifikan mempengaruhi kemampuan siswa dalam berbicara. Ditemukan juga pencapaian siswa dalam berbicara meningkat melalui video dubbed. / The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of using dubbed videos in relation to the speaking ability of SMPN 80 Jakarta students. This study was conducted at SMPN 80 Jakarta. In this study, a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest method was used. The participants in this study were English club students consisting of 47 in the 2021/2022 Academic Year. Due to Covid-19, this study was conducted via the Zoom application. Data were collected using a speaking test as the instrument. A pre-test was given to the students to assess their speaking ability. After treatment, a post-test was conducted to assess the student’s ability to speak English according to the dubbed video. The pre-test score was 57.27 and the post-test score was 80.50. The hypothesis of this study was tested using a paired-sample t-test. The test showed that the Sig. value is 0.000, which is less than the Sig. value. α (0.05). Hence, the alternative hypothesis was accepted. The results of this study showed that the use of dubbed videos had a significant impact on students' speaking skills. Students' speaking performance was found to improve with dubbed videos.
