Abstract
Penelitian ini membahas tentang kajian sosio-kultural aktivitas bercocok tanam sebagai bagian dari pendidikan karakter bagi pemuda di desa Kakenturan Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan konsep dan teori-teori tentang sosial budaya, pertanian, pendidikan karakter dan Pendidikan Agama Kristen untuk mendapatkan deskripsi tentang aktivitas bercocok tanam sebagai bagian dari pendidikan karakter bagi pemuda di desa Kakenturan Barat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan hubungan antara aktivitas bercocok tanam dengan pendidikan karakter, pemahaman pemuda terhadap pengembangan pertanian, dan peran pendidikan kristen dalam pendidikan karakter pemuda di desa Kakenturan Barat terhadap nilai budaya. Adapun metode penelitian yang digunakan oleh peneliti adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografi dimana peneliti meneliti tingkah laku, kebiasaan-kebiasaan dan cara hidup dari suatu budaya dan sistem sosial melalui pengamatan dan wawancara. Informan dalam penelitian ini adalah lima belas orang pemuda dan tiga orang pemimpin gereja. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas bercocok tanam dapat membentuk karakter pemuda. Hal ini ditunjukkan melalui pengamatan yang dilakukan oleh peneliti yang menjelaskan bahwa aktivitas bercocok tanam dan pendidikan karakter memiliki korelasi yang membentuk manusia agar bertindak dalam upaya menjaga alam dan mengelola alam sebaik mungkin. Implementasi dari kerja pertanian membentuk mentalitas manusia yang bertanggung jawab, tekun, ulet, sabar, disiplin dan mandiri. Pemahaman pemuda terhadap pengembangan pertanian di desa Kakenturan Barat masih kurang sehingga terdapat gengsi di kalangan pemuda untuk melakukan pertanian karena menganggap bertani merupakan profesi atau pekerjaan yang hanya dilakukan oleh orang yang kastanya rendah di dalam lingkup masyarakat. Peran PAK menjadi faktor yang bisa menyentuh dan mencegah terjadinya pergeseran nilai karakter terhadap nilai budaya. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan: aktivitas bercocok tanam dapat membentuk mentalitas manusia yang memiliki nilai karakter. Pemuda di desa Kakenturan Barat memahami pengembangan dari pertanian tetapi tidak mampu mengembangkan pertanian sebagai wadah untuk pengembangan diri. PAK dalam pendidikan karakter memiliki peran untuk melindungi dan memelihara nilai budaya yang ada dalam aktivitas bercocok tanam. Kata Kunci: Aktivitas bercocok tanam, pemuda, pendidikan karakter, PAK./ This study discusses the socio-cultural study of farming activities as part of character education for youth in the village of West Kakenturan. This study uses concepts and theories on socio-cultural, agricultural, character education and Christian religious education to obtain a description of farming activities as part of character education for youth in the village of West Kakenturan. The purpose of this study was to determine and describe the relationship between farming activities and character education, youth understanding of agricultural development, and the role of Christian education in youth character education in the village of West Kakenturan on cultural values. The research method used by the researcher is a qualitative research with an ethnographic approach where the researcher examines the behavior, habits and way of life of a culture and social system through observation and interviews. The informants in this study were fifteen youths and three church leaders. The results showed that farming activities can shape the character of youth. This is shown through observations made by researchers who explain that farming activities and character education have a correlation that shapes humans to act in an effort to protect nature and manage nature as best they can. The implementation of agricultural work forms a responsible, diligent, tenacious, patient, disciplined and independent human mentality. Youth understanding of agricultural development in West Kakenturan village is still lacking so that there is prestige among youth to do agriculture because they think farming is a profession or work that is only done by people whose caste is low in the community. The role of Christian Religious Education is a factor that can touch and prevent a shift in character values to culture. Based on the results of research and discussion: farming activities can form a human mentality that has character values. Youth in the village of West Kakenturan understand the development of agriculture but are not able to develop agriculture as a forum for self-development. Christian religious education in character education has a role to protect and maintain cultural values that exist in farming activities.
