Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan konsep diri dari jurnalis perempuan dan mantan jurnalis di media lokal Kota Bandar Lampung. Diketahui bahwa jurnalis adalah pekerjaan yang berada dalam ranah maskulin karena memiliki resiko kerja yang tinggi serta rentan terjadi diskriminasi dan pelecehan bagi pekerja perempuan. Meski demikian, ada jurnalis perempuan yang mampu bertahan hingga belasan tahun, namun ada juga yang memutuskan untuk keluar. Penelitian ini mengulas konsep diri dengan komponennya yaitu citra diri (self image) dan harga diri (self esteem). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif dengan menggunakan paradigma konstruktivis/interpretif. Agar dapat mendeskripsikan konsep diri jurnalis perempuan dan mantan jurnalis, peneliti menggunakan metode wawancara mendalam dengan melibatkan lima orang informan yang dipilih dengan teknik deviant case sampling. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa alasan terbesar jurnalis perempuan keluar dari profesinya adalah kurangnya dukungan dari keluarga dan kurangnya rasa percaya diri di lingkungan kerja yang berimbas kepada kemampuan kerja yang kurang maksimal. Seluruh informan memiliki konsep diri yang dominan positif dan citra diri yang positif, namun dua informan yang merupakan mantan jurnalis memiliki harga diri yang dominan rendah. Kata kunci : Konsep Diri, Self Image, Self Esteem, Jurnalis Perempuan, Media Lokal. / ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the self-concept of female journalists and former journalists in local media in Bandar Lampung City. It is known that journalism is a job that is in the masculine realm because it has a high risk of work and is vulnerable to discrimination and harassment for female workers. However, there are women journalists who can survive for a dozen years, but there are also those who decide to leave. This study reviews self-concept with its components, namely self-image and self-esteem. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research method using a constructivist/interpretive paradigm. In order to describe the self-concept of women journalists and former journalists, the researchers used in-depth interviews involving five informants who were selected using a deviant case sampling technique. The results of this study indicate that the biggest reason for female journalists leaving their profession is the lack of support from their families and lack of self-confidence in the work environment which results in less than optimal work abilities. All informants have a dominant positive self-concept and a positive self-image, but two informants who are former journalists have dominantly low self-esteem.
