Abstract

Isu keberlanjutan dalam pariwisata telah menjamur di era globalisasi dan sudah seharusnya menjadi fokus pariwisata negara dunia. Candi Prambanan sebagai Warisan Dunia juga tak luput dari diskursus pariwisata berkelanjutan ini. Skripsi ini akan mengeksplorasi strategi diplomasi pariwisata Indonesia untuk mewujudkan pariwisata berkelanjutan di Candi Prambanan lewat kacamata konsep diplomasi publik milik Jan Melissen dan konsep pariwisata berkelanjutan milik UNWTO. Untuk menjawabnya, penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk menggambarkan fakta yang terjadi di lapangan. Sementara menggali temuan, peneliti melihat bahwa adanya relasi antara pariwisata dalam wajah diplomasi publik dan Candi Prambanan sebagai situs warisan yang perlu dilestarikan lewat pariwisata berkelanjutan. Selain sebagai wujud promosi, diplomasi publik dapat digunakan untuk menciptakan interaction, awareness, dan dependency bagi semua unsur pelaku pariwisata di Candi Prambanan. Hasil relasi keduanya adalah dapat dilihat melalui dampak ekonomi, sosial-budaya, dan lingkungan. Meski dari kacamata keberlanjutan lingkungan secara positif kurang nampak dibanding dari sudut ekonomi dan sosial-budaya, seperti penambah penghasilan, tingkat kunjungan, dan pengenalan budaya Jawa kepada wisatawan mancanegara./ Sustainability issue in tourism has popped up in the globalization era and it should be the focus of world tourism. Prambanan Temple as a World Heritage is also not spared from this sustainable tourism discourse. The thesis will explore Indonesia’s diplomacy strategy towards sustainable tourism in Prambanan Temple through Jan Melissen’s concept of public diplomacy and the UNWTO’s concept of sustainable tourism UNWTO. To answer it, the research uses a qualitative method which aims to describe the facts that occur in the field. While digging the findings, the researcher sees there is a relationship between tourism in the face of public diplomacy and Prambanan Temple as a heritage site that need to be preserved through sustainable tourism. Apart from being a form of promotion, public diplomacy can be used to create the interaction, awareness, and dependency for all elements of tourism actors in Prambanan Temple. The result of the relationship between them is that can be seen through the economic, socio-culture, and environmental impacts. Although from the environmental sustainability perspective, it is less visible than socio-culture and economic angle, such as income, visit levels, and introduce Javanese culture to foreign tourists.
