Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menggali fenomena tentang kekuasaan Amerika Serikat yang beroperasi di Arab Saudi. Isu yang diangkat dalam penelitian ini akan dikaji dengan menggunakan pendekatan Hegemoni oleh Gramsci, serta dikuatkan dengan argumen Orientalisme milik Edward Said. Di mana kedua pendekatan tersebut dipakai untuk memahami dan menganalisis material pembentuk kekuasaan AS yang berujung pada bentuk-bentuk hegemoni AS di Arab Saudi. Penelitian ini juga menggunakan metode kualitatif yang dianalisis berdasarkan dialektika materialisme untuk mengungkap bentuk kapitalisme yang terkandung dalam nilai-nilai budaya. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa terdapat nilai-nilai budaya Amerika Serikat yang diterima dan hidup dalam masyarakat Arab Saudi yang disebabkan oleh orientalisme dan hegemoni budaya Amerika Serikat di Arab Saudi./ This research aims to explore the phenomenon about the United States power which operate in Saudi Arabia. The issues that raised in this research is examined by Gramsci's Hegemonic approach, and will be strengthened by Edward Said's Orientalism argument. Those two approaches are used to understand and analyze the material forming US power which leads to the forms of US hegemony in Saudi Arabia. This research also uses qualitative methods that are analyzed based on the dialectical materialism to reveal the form of capitalism contained in cultural values. This research finds there are American cultural values that are accepted and live in Saudi Arabian society caused by orientalism and the hegemony of American culture in Saudi Arabia.
