Abstract

Pemerintahan yang demokratis belum tentu bisa mengatasi kesenjangan sosial. Berdasarkan penemuan lembaga Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) mencatat bahwa salah satu indikator mundurnya demokrasi di Indonesia disebabkan oleh gagalnya fungsi pemerintahan. Dalam mempertahankan demokrasi, LP3ES hadir sebagai lembaga yang kritis untuk memajukan demokrasi dan menahan laju kemundurannya melalui pelaksanaan pendidikan politik dengan menciptakan sebuah forum sekolah demokrasi dengan menghadirkan elemen-elemen masyarakat yang berasal dari background yang berbeda-beda dalam melakukan upaya bersama dan memberikan insight bagi perbaikan kesejahteraan di daerah khususnya dalam pemberdayaan masyarakat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui landasan pelaksanaan pendidikan politik, mengetahui peran LP3ES dalam pendidikan politik dan mengetahui tanggapan peserta sekolah demokrasi terhadap pelaksanaan pendidikan politik. Dalam penelitian ini metode yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif, desain penelitian tindakan, teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi, sumber data primer dan data sekunder triangulasi data serta dokumentasi. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori civil society Alexis De Tocqueville, teori sosisalisasi politik, teori pemberdayaan masyarakat, teori demokrasi dan partisipasi politik serta teori kesejahteraan sosial. Informan dalam penelitian ini adalah ketua Dewan Pengurus LP3ES, Direktur Center For Media and Democracy LP3ES, Eks. Direktur Eksekutif LP3ES 2018-2021, 2 (dua) Pemateri dari Universitas Dipenogoro dan 7 (tujuh) peserta sekolah demokrasi LP3ES angkatan II. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah penguatan civil society melalui pendidikan politik penting untuk dilakukan dalam menahan laju kemunduran demokrasi khususnya dalam melakukan upaya-upaya perbaikan kesejahteraan di daerah terutama dalam program pemberdayaan masyarakat. Namun pada dasarnya, masalah struktural masih menjadi hambatan dalam penyelenggaraan kesejahteraan sosial sehingga menjadi alasan mengapa demokrasi tidak bisa mengatasi kesenjangan sosial dan gagalnya fungsi pemerintahan dalam mewujudkan kesejahteraan sosial/Democratic government is not necessarily able to overcome social inequality. Based on the findings of the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) it noted that one of the indicators of the decline of democracy in Indonesia was caused by the failure of government functions. In defending democracy, LP3ES is present as a critical institution to advance democracy and curb its decline through the implementation of political education by creating a democratic school forum by presenting community elements from different backgrounds in making joint efforts and providing insight for improvement. The purpose of this study was to determine the basis for implementing political education, to find out the role of LP3ES in political education and to determine the responses of democratic school participants to the implementation of political education. In this study the methods used are qualitative research methods, action research design, data collection techniques through interviews, observation, primary data sources and secondary data triangulation of data and documentation. The theory used is the theory of civil society Alexis De Tocqueville, the theory of political socialization, the theory of community empowerment, the theory of democracy and political participation and the theory of social welfare. Informants in this study were the chairman of the LP3ES Management Board, Director of the Center for Media and Democracy LP3ES, Ex. Executive Director of LP3ES 2018-2021, 2 (two) presenters from Dipenogoro University and 7 (seven) participants from the class II LP3ES democracy school. The results of this study are strengthening civil society through political education is important to do in restraining the rate of democratic decline, especially in making efforts to improve welfare in the region, especially in community empowerment programs. But basically, structural problems are still obstacles in the implementation of social welfare so that it is the reason why democracy cannot overcome social inequality and the failure of government functions in realizing social welfare
