Abstract

Kayu manis Cinnamomum burmannii yang merupakan salah satu komoditas ekspor Indonesia, memiliki beberapa kandungan senyawa aktif yang dapat berperan sebagai antibakteri seperti alkaloid, flavonoid, tanin, saponin, terpenoid, sinamaldehid, dan eugenol. Salah satu bakteri yang dapat menginfeksi manusia adalah Pseudomonas aeruginosa, dapat ditemukan di berbagai area seperti rumah sakit, sehingga meningkatkan risiko infeksi pada pasien luka bakar, penggunaan ventilator dan kateter, serta pasien pasca pembedahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak metanol kayu manis C.burmanni terhadap P.aeruginosa . Ekstraksi kayu manis dilakukan dengan metode maserasi, dan uji aktivitas antibakteri menggunakan metode mikrodilusi. Nilai persentase inhibisi yang didapat dari tiap konsentrasi ekstrak adalah: 100 mg/ml (89.95%), 50 mg/ml (69.43%), 25 mg/ml (47.28%), 12.5 mg/ml (36.63%), 6.25 mg/ml (32.13%), 3.12 mg/ml (28.32%), dan 1.56 mg/ml (24.19%). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa C.burmanni memiliki potensi aktivitas antibakteri terhadap P.aeruginosa./ Cinnamomum burmanni, which is one of Indonesia’s export commodities contains bioactive compounds that can act as antibacterial agent for example alkaloid, flavonoid, tannin, saponin, terpenoid, cinnamaldehyde, and eugenol. One of the bacteria that can infect human is Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which can be found in various areas such as hospitals, thereby increasing the risk of infection in burn patients, patient with ventilators and catheters, and post-surgical patients. This study aimed to determine the antibacterial activity of C. burmanni methanol extract against P. aeruginosa. Cinnamon extraction was carried out using the maceration method, and the antibacterial activity was tested using the microdilution method. The inhibition percentage values obtained from each extract concentration were: 100 mg/ml (89.95%), 50 mg/ml (69.43%), 25 mg/ml (47.28%), 12.5 mg/ml (36.63%), 6.25 mg/ml (32.13%), 3.12 mg/ml (28.32%), and 1.56 mg/ml (24.19%). We can conclude that C.burmanni has potential antibacterial activity against P.aeruginosa.
