Abstract
One function of literature is to give the readers an insight of the human life. it shows the experiences of man in his or her efforts to live. The Portrait Of A Lady by Henry James, as a literary work, provides its readers with human experiences and struggles. It shows the life of a woman wanting to find her place in the world, wanting to exist. One can learn many things from her experience.
