Abstract

Utilization of water as a natural resource from renewable energy for electricity generation is an alternative solution to replace the need for fossil fuels. In Dicurug Pelangi there is a river that has a waterfall, which can be potential to become a Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH). However, the waterfall is currently used as a village tourist destination. From observations and calculations using a float, and the cross-sectional area of the river, the total water discharge is Q = 0.05 m3/s. The measurement also shows that the height of the fall (H) = 28 m. Based on the height and flow of water available, it can be determined that the type of turbine wheel is Pelton wheel. From the calculation results, the effective head is 23.98 m, with the water discharge used to turn the turbine, the result is 7.4 kW. From the power obtained, it can be calculated: The shaft diameter is 30 mm, so that it is easy to adjust the turbine and generator rotation, a belt transmission (V Belt) is used with a ratio of 1: 2, where width b = 21 mm, thickness t = 21 mm, belt mass w = 0.533 kg, while the max belt tension = 52.5 kg, with the angle of tangency between the belt and the pulley 5.160.
