Abstract
Tanah ekspansif merupakan tanah yang mempunyai potensi pengembangan dan penyusutan yang tinggi oleh pengaruh perubahan kadar air. Tanah ekspansif akan menyusut bila kadar air berkurang dan mengembang bila kadar air bertambah. Hal ini akan berdampak buruk, karena dapat menyebabkan kerusakan pada konstruksi diatasnya. Pada penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penambahan gypsum pada tanah ekspansif terhadap potensi pengembangan dan nilai kuat tekan menggunakan uji tekan bebas. Penggunaan gypsum ini berguna untuk meningkatkan penyerapan air pada tanah oleh kalsium yang terkandung dalam gypsum, sehingga dapat mengurangi pengembangan dan membuat tanah menjadi semakin padat. Sampel tanah ekspansif diambil dari kawasan Meikarta Cikarang sedangkan gypsum diambil dari sisa plafon pada pembongkaran plafon bangunan SDN Cawang 07 Pagi dan gedung AB di Universitas Kristen Indonesia yang sedang direnovasi. Pengujian dilakukan di laboratorium dengan berbagai jenis kadar campuran, yaitu penambahan gypsum sebanyak 0%, 3%, 5%, 7% dan 10% dari berat kering tanah. Dari hasil pengujian potensi pengembangan yang dilakukan, tanah mengalami penurunan bila dicampur gypsum dan penurunan signifikan terjadi pada penambahan 3% dan 5% gypsum. Dari Hasil pengujian kuat tekan bebas, nilai kuat tekan bebas tanah mengalami peningkatan bila dicampur dengan gypsum dan mencapai maksimum pada penambahan 5% gypsum, yaitu sebesar 3,00 kg/cm2 pada tanah hasil pemadatan dan 2,23 kg/cm2 pada tanah cetak ulang. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa gypsum memiliki pengaruh dalam memperkecil potensi pengembangan dan memperbesar nilai kuat tekan bebas tanah. Expansive soils are soils that has high swelling and shrinkage potential by changes of water content. Expansive soils will shrink when the water content decreases and expands when the water content increases. This will have a bad impact, because it can cause damage to the construction above it. This research is intended to analyze the effect of gypsum addition on expansive soils on the swelling potential and compressive strength using unconfined compression test. Gypsum is useful to increase the absorption of water in the soil by calcium contained in gypsum, so that it can reduce swelling potential and make the soil compact. Expansive soil samples were taken from the Meikarta Cikarang area while gypsum was taken from the remaining ceiling in the demolition of the Cawang 07 Pagi Elementary School building and AB building at the Christian University of Indonesia which is being renovated and tested in laboratory with various types of mixed levels, the addition of gypsum as much as 0%, 3%, 5%, 7% and 10% of the dry weight of the soil. From the results of testing the swelling potential, the soil has decreased when mixed with gypsum and a significant decrease occurred in the addition of 3% and 5% gypsum. From the results of the unconfined compression test, the value of the unconfined compression test of the soil has increased when mixed with gypsum and reaches a maximum at the addition of 5% gypsum, which is 3.00 kg/cm2 on compaction resulting soil and 2.23 kg/cm2 on remolded soil . This proves that gypsum has an influence in reducing the swelling potential and enlarges the value of unconfined compression test.
