Abstract

Proses unloading batu bara dari gerbong datar (GD) di PT Fortuna Marina Sejahtera masih dilakukan secara manual menggunakan alat berat reach stacker, yang menyebabkan kapasitas bongkar tidak stabil, efisiensi operasional rendah, meningkatnya risiko keselamatan kerja, serta potensi kerusakan material. Kondisi tersebut menunjukkan perlunya inovasi sistem bongkar muat yang lebih efisien, aman, dan andal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan membangun mesin Feeder sebagai alternatif sistem unloading batu bara berukuran sedang hingga kasar dari gerbong datar. Kebaruan penelitian ini terletak pada perancangan mesin Feeder yang secara khusus disesuaikan dengan karakteristik material batu bara abrasif dan kondisi operasional lapangan yang berdebu. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimental dengan pendekatan rancang bangun, meliputi perancangan desain mekanik menggunakan perangkat lunak SolidWorks, proses fabrikasi dan perakitan mesin, serta pengujian kinerja secara operasional di lapangan. Mesin Feeder dirancang dengan target kapasitas sebesar 3.000 ton/jam. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa mesin Feeder mampu mencapai kapasitas aktual sebesar 2.503 ton/jam atau setara dengan efisiensi 83,4% terhadap kapasitas rancangan, dengan aliran material yang lebih stabil dibandingkan metode unloading sebelumnya. Selisih capaian kapasitas dipengaruhi oleh distribusi material yang belum sepenuhnya merata, gesekan mekanik pada sistem, serta faktor adaptasi operator. Secara keseluruhan, penerapan mesin Feeder terbukti meningkatkan efisiensi unloading, mengurangi ketergantungan terhadap alat berat, menekan risiko keselamatan kerja, serta layak diterapkan sebagaisistem material handling batu bara berbasis otomasi pada sektor logistik pertambangan. Kata kunci: mesin Feeder, unloading batu bara, gerbong datar, rancang bangun, efisiensi operasional. / The coal unloading process from flat wagons(GD) at PT Fortuna Marina Sejahtera is still performed manually using reach stacker equipment, resulting in unstable unloading capacity, low operational efficiency, increased occupational safety risks, and potential material damage. These conditions indicate the need for a more efficient, safe, and reliable unloading system. This study aims to design and develop a Feeder machine as an alternative system for unloading medium- to coarse-sized coal from flat wagons. The novelty of this research lies in the design of a Feeder machine specifically adapted to the abrasive characteristics of coal material and dusty field operating conditions. The research employed an experimental method with a design-and-build approach, including mechanical design using SolidWorks software, fabrication and assembly of the Feeder machine, and operational performance testing in field conditions. The Feeder machine was designed with a target capacity of 3.000 tons per hour. The testresultsshow that the Feeder machine achieved an actual capacity of 2.503 tons per hour, corresponding to an efficiency of 83.4% relative to the design capacity, with a more stable material flow compared to the previous unloading method. Variations in achieved capacity were influenced by uneven material distribution, mechanical friction within the system, and operator adaptation factors. Overall, the implementation of the Feeder machine improves unloading efficiency, reduces dependence on heavy equipment, minimizes occupational safety risks, and is feasible for application as an automated coal material handling system in the mining logistics sector.
