Abstract

Adaptasi diri adalah proses psikologis krusial yang memungkinkan individu untuk menyesuaikan diri secara efektif terhadap perubahan lingkungan, terutama saat beralih dari pendidikan menengah ke perguruan tinggi. Sejumlah mahasiswa di Prodi Bimbingan dan Konseling Universitas Kristen Indonesia mengalami kesulitan dalam proses adaptasi ini, termasuk dalam hal mengelola tekanan akademik, menjalin relasi interpersonal, dan mempertahankan persepsi diri yang positif.Permasalahan ini dapat berdampak negatif terhadap prestasi akademik, kestabilan emosi, serta kesejahteraan secara keseluruhan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat penyesuaian diri mahasiswa dan mengidentifikasi aspek-aspek yang paling dominan maupun yang paling lemah, berdasarkan indikator seperti persepsi terhadap realitas, kemampuan mengatasi stres dan kecemasan, gambaran diri, ekspresi emosi, serta interaksi sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa angket penyesuaian diri yang disusun berdasarkan teori Haber dan Runyon. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 74 mahasiswa dari angkatan 2020, 2023, dan 2024 yang dipilih secara acak. Instrumen terdiri dari 15 item dengan skala Likert, dan data dianalisis menggunakan perangkat lunak statistik JASP. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 28,38% mahasiswa memiliki tingkat penyesuaian diri rendah, 48,65% sedang, dan hanya 22,97% yang tinggi. Mahasiswa angkatan 2024 menunjukkan distribusi yang lebih seimbang, dengan 31,25% termasuk dalam kategori rendah maupun tinggi. Mahasiswa laki-laki memiliki tingkat penyesuaian diri sedikit lebih tinggi dibandingkan mahasiswa perempuan, terutama dalam aspek pengelolaan emosi dan kecemasan. Kesimpulannya, sebagian besar mahasiswa masih mengalami kesulitan dalam penyesuaian diri. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan program dukungan yang lebih terstruktur untuk membantu mahasiswa mengembangkan kemampuan koping dan kesiapan psikologis. Faktor-faktor seperti kesehatan fisik, kepribadian, strategi belajar, serta latar belakang budaya dan agama turut memengaruhi kemampuan penyesuaian diri mahasiswa. Kata Kunci: penyesuaian diri, bimbingan dan konseling, mahasiswa, studi deskriptif, kesejahteraan mahasiswa/ Adaptation is a critical psychological process that allows individuals to adjust effectively to environmental changes, especially when transitioning from secondary to tertiary education. A number of students in the Guidance and Counseling Study Program at the Christian University of Indonesia experience difficulties in this adaptation process, including managing academic pressure, establishing interpersonal relationships, and maintaining a positive self-perception. These challenges can negatively impact academic achievement, emotional stability, and overall well-being. This study aims to describe the level of students' adjustment and identify the most dominant and weakest aspects, based on indicatorssuch as their understanding of the world around them, their ability to manage stress and anxiety, and their self-esteem, emotional expression, and social interaction. This study used a descriptive quantitative method with a data collection technique in the form of an adjustment questionnaire designed based on Haber and Runyon's theory. The study sample consisted of 74 randomly selected students from the classes of 2020, 2023, and 2024. The instrument consisted of 15 items with a Likert scale, and the data were analyzed using JASP statistical software. The results showed that 28.38% of students had low levels of adjustment, 48.65% had moderate levels, and only 22.97% had high levels. The class of 2024 showed a more balanced distribution, with 31.25% falling into either the low or high categories. Male students had slightly higher levels of adjustment than female students, particularly in terms of managing emotions and anxiety. In conclusion, most students still experience difficulties in adjusting. Therefore, more structured support programs are needed to help students develop coping skills and psychological readiness. Factors such as physical health, personality, learning strategies, and cultural and religious backgrounds also influence students' adjustment abilities.
