Abstract

Lean thinking is very important to be applied to hospital design, so it is hoped that it will produce the most efficient design. This study aims to design a hospital based on lean thinking. The case study was conducted on the design of the Jakarta Dharmais Cancer Hospital. This research is a descriptive approach through observation and hospital case studies. It conducted this research for quality improvement by showing the relationship between the subject and the hospital system and building that became the research object, with the final result of an efficient hospital design. The tool used for planning or designing the hospital in this study is the Proximity and Correlation Function Diagram by Bubble Diagrams. The study proposes optimization through planning the space program and improving access from each work unit in the hospital. This design study reveals the optimization of operations by reducing activities that do not add value to patients and managing key resources efficiently through better access and room layout.
