Abstract

Rinitis alergi merupakan inflamasi pada mukasa hidung yang disebabkan oleh reaksi hipersensitivitas tipe satu atau reaksi yang di mediasi oleh IgE dan menimbulkan gejala seperti bersin berulang, rinorea, hidung tersumbat, gatal pada mata dan hidung serta lakrimasi atau keluar air mata yang banyak. Salah satu penanganan efektif yang dapat dilakukan selain pemberian obat adalah cuci hidung dengan larutan isotonis, contohnya air laut. Cara kerjanya adalah membersihan alergen yang menempel pada mukosa dan mengembalikan pH hidung menjadi normal. Pada nelayan yang menyelam, kontak antara hidung dan air laut akan meningkat sehingga tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui korelasi antara kegiatan menyelam dengan angka kejadian gejala rinitis alergi pada nelayan di Pulau Tikus, Bengkulu dengan desain cross sectional dan menggunakan kuesioner SFAR. Hasilnya, dari empat puluh dua orang ditemukan tiga puluh empat orang negatif rinitis alergi dan delapan orang positif rinitis alergi. Melalui uji chi square, terdapat hubungan yang tidak bermakna antara kegiatan menyelam, yaitu lama menyelam dan kedalaman menyelam dengan angka kejadian rinitis alergi (P>0,05). Kata Kunci : Rinitis alergi, cuci hidung, larutan isotonis, kegiatan menyelam. / Allergic rhinitis is inflammation of the nasal mucous caused by a type one hypersensitivity reaction or a reaction mediated by immunoglobulin E and causes symptoms such as repeated sneezing, rhinorrhea, nasal congestion, itchy eyes and nose, and lacrimation or excessive tears. One effective treatment that can be done besides giving medication is nasal wash with isotonic solution, for example sea water. The solution will clean allergens that attached to the mucosa and returns the nasal pH back to normal. In fishermen who dive, the nose will be exposed by seawater repetitively which made the purpose of this study is to determine the correlation between diving activities with the incidence of allergic rhinitis’ symptoms in fishermen on Tikus Island, Bengkulu with cross sectional design and using the SFAR questionnaire. As a result, thirty-four out of forty-two people are allergic rhinitis negative and the remain eight people are allergic rhinitis positive. Through the chi square test, there was no significant relationship between diving activities, namely the length of diving and the depth of diving with the incidence of allergic rhinitis (P> 0.05).
