Abstract

Menurut WHO, 50 juta orang di dunia hidup dengan epilepsi. Di Indonesia, prevalensinya mencapai 250 ribu kasus. Epilepsi bagi orang awam dikenal sebagai penyakit yang mengerikan, bahkan menimbulkan berbagai stigma negatif di masyarakat. Seringkali, masalah psikososial akibat stigma ini berdampak lebih besar bagi penyandang epilepsi dibandingkan penyakitnya sendiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik pengetahuan, sikap, dan perilaku masyarakat terhadap kejadian epilepsi di RT 003/RW 011, Kelurahan Cawang, Jakarta Timur. Jenis penelitian ini adalah survey deskriptif dengan menggunakan kuesioner. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara convenience sampling dengan 137 responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 70,8% responden memiliki pengetahuan yang cukup, 55,5% memiliki sikap positif, dan 67,9% memiliki perilaku yang baik mengenai epilepsi. Walaupun demikian, masih banyak juga masyarakat yang memiliki pengetahuan kurang, sikap negatif, dan perilaku tidak baik mengenai epilepsi. Kata kunci: pengetahuan, sikap, perilaku, epilepsi. / According to the WHO, approximately 50 million people in the world living with epilepsy. In Indonesia, it’s prevalence reach 250 thousands cases. In general population, epilepsy is known as terrifying disease, even it can induce negative stigma in population. This stigma often caused a psychosocial problem bigger than it’s disease for people with epilepsy. This research aimed to know the characteristics of knowledge, attitudes, and practice towards epilepsy in RT 003/RW 011, Kelurahan Cawang, East Jakarta. This research was a descriptive survey with questionnaire. The sampling technique was conducted by convenience sampling with 137 respondents. The results showed that 70.8% of respondents have enough knowledge, 55.5% have a positive attitudes, and 67.9% have a good practice towards epilepsy. Nevertheless, there are many people who have less knowledge, negative attitudes, and bad practice towards epilepsy. Keywords: knowledge, attitudes, practice, epilepsy.
