Abstract

Mencuci tangan dengan sabun merupakan suatu kegiatan membersihkan tangan dengan mengunakan air dan sabun yang berfungsi untuk memutus rantai kehidupan kuman dan cacing. Penelitian ini bertujuan Untuk mengetahui perbandingan efektifitas dari mencuci tangan dengan menggunakan sabun cair dan Hand sanitizer terhadap jumlah koloni Staphylococcus epidermidis pada mahasiswa/i Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Kristen Indonesia angkatan 2016. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah “eksperimental one group pretest-posttest design”. Dimana perlakuan dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah mencuci tangan menggunakan sabun cair dan Hand sanitizer untuk melihat jumlah koloni bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penggunaan antiseptik antara lain sabun cair dan Hand sanitizer tidak menunjukan perbedaan yang bermakna dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis yang dapat dilihat dari nilai Sig > 0.05, sehingga disimpulkan dari dua bahan yang diuji tidak ada yang lebih efektif dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri. Kata Kunci: Mencuci Tangan, Hand sanitizer, Sabun Cair, Staphylococcus epidermidis. / Washing hands with soap is an activity to clean hands by using water and soap that serves to break the life chain of germs and worms. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of washing hands by using liquid soap and Hand sanitizer on the number of Staphylococcus epidermidis colonies in 2016 Christian University Indonesian Medical Faculty students. The design used in this study was "experimental one group pretest-posttest design". Where the treatment is carried out before and after washing hands using liquid soap and Hand sanitizer to see the number of Staphylococcus epidermidis colonies. The results showed that the use of antiseptics including liquid soap and Hand sanitizer did not show a significant difference in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria which can be seen from the Sig> 0.05, so it was concluded that from the two ingredients tested none were more effective in inhibiting bacterial growth.
