Abstract
Riset ini mengungkap kontribusi feminisme melalui film Barbie dalam melawan patriarki di Korea Selatan. Masyarakat modern Korea Selatan masih terikat dengan budaya patriarki yang menyebabkan ketidaksetaraan gender. Dengan teori feminisme liberal dari Mary Wollstonecraft mendukung keadilan dan kesetaraan, menegaskan bahwa kesetaraan gender adalah bagian penting dari prinsip liberal yang mendasari masyarakat yang adil. Film Barbie dapat berfungsi sebagai alat untuk mengubah cara orang melihat perempuan di masyarakat yang masih diwarnai oleh norma-norma patriarki. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif. Untuk menemukan ide-ide feminis yang tercermin dalam karakter perempuan dalam film, penelitian ini memanfaatkan interpretasi bahasa audio visual. Tujuan dari penulisan ini mengetahui peran khusus yang dimainkan oleh "Barbie" dalam gerakan feminisme. Dalam penelitian ini akan menjelaskan film Barbie yang berkontibusi menjadi film edukasi justru ditolak oleh masyarakat Korea Selatan membuktikan bahwa feminisme masih tabu untuk dibahas. Jadi studi ini menemukan bahwa film Barbie sebagai media feminisme ternyata bentuk representasi patriarki di Korea Selatan. Film Barbie merupakan media massa yang memengaruhi persepsi masyarakat terhadap bias gender. / This research reveals the contribution of feminism through Barbie films in the fight against patriarchy in South Korea. South Korean modern society is still tied to a patriarchal culture that causes gender inequality. With the liberal feminism theory of Mary Wollstonecraft advocating justice and equality, affirming that gender equality is an essential part of the liberal principle underlying a just society. Barbie movies can serve as a tool to change the way people see women in societies that are still coloured by patriarchal norms. The method used is qualitative. To find the feminist ideas that are reflected in the female character in the film, this study utilizes visual audio language interpretation. The purpose of this writing is to know the special role played by "Barbie" in the movement of feminism. In this study, it will explain that Barbie films that converge into educational films are rejected by South Korean society proving that feminism is still taboo to discuss. So this study found that Barbie films as a feminism media turned out to be a form of representation of patriarchy in South Korea. Barbie films are mass media that influence public perceptions of gender bias.
