Abstract

An issue with vision brought on by extended computer use is called Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS), and it can result in a number of illnesses. Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) can be detected through one method using objective autorefraction. This study aimed to investigate the potential correlation between objective autorefraction and Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) in FK UKI students, class of 2019–2021.. The type of study chosen is analytical observational by utilizing a cross sectional design. The random sampling technique was chosen by the author to take the sample. This study utilized a total of 65 people as samples. This study was analyzed using SPSS in a univariate and bivariate manner. Bivariate analysis utilized Chi-square testing. Univariate analysis showed a female dominance in this study with 53 people (81.5%) and 12 men (18.5%). Respondents were dominated by the age range of 21-23 years with a total of 34 people (52.3%) and in the age range of 19-20 years as many as 31 people (47.7%). The results of objective autorefraction were mostly at the SE = ≥ -0.50 D refraction value with a total of 68 eyes (52.3%) and at the SE = <-0.50 D refraction value of 62 eyes (47.7%). Respondents who experienced mild CVS were 72 eyes (55.4%) and 58 eyes (44.6%) experienced severe CVS. The results of the frequency of the length of use of gadgets in a day with the highest number is the duration of <4 hours totaling 26 people (40.0%) and the least in duration >5 hours, namely 17 people (26.2%). The p value, as calculated using statistical tests using the chi-square test, is 0.003 (<0.05). This indicates that objective autorefraction results (SE= ≥-0.50) and Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) have a significant correlation. The study reveals that in the FK UKI students' class of 2019–2021, there is a correlation between the results of objective autorefraction and Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). Keywords: computer vision syndrome, objective autorefraction, spherical equivalent
