Abstract

Media massa dan media sosial telah mengubah pola komunikasi dan perilaku, terutama pada Generasi Z. Di tengah beragam podcast yang menggunakan bahasa Indonesia sebagai media komunikasinya podcast Mendoan memilih tidak memedulikan nilai kesantunan dalam berbahasa yang baik dan benar sebagai contoh untuk para pendengarnya. Penelitian ini berusaha menemukan adakah pengaruh dari penggunaan podcast Mendoan terhadap pembentukan perilaku wajar mengumpat generasi Z di Kota Malang. Peneliti menggunakan teori kultivasi karena teori ini menekankan pengaruh media massa dalam membentuk persepsi dan keyakinan. Teori kultivasi menekankan bahwa pengaruh media massa adalah proses yang berkelanjutan dan kumulatif. Dengan konsep dari kultivasi yaitu diferensial kultivasi, mainstreaming, dan resonansi peneliti ingin membuktikannya pada penggunaan podcast. Dengan terus mendengarkan podcast mendoan pada Generasi Z dapat semakin terpapar pada narasi tertentu tentang perilaku wajar mengumpat, yang dapat mempengaruhi pemahaman dan perilaku mereka seiring waktu. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif guna menguji hipotesis dengan random purposive sampling dengan 100 sampel. Adapun hasil penelitian dapat menjawab kebenaran dari hipotesis penelitian yang telah disusun. Hasil penelitian penggunaan podcast Mendoan terhadap pembentukan perilaku wajar mengumpat pada generasi Z di Kota Malang, memberikan hasil tentang adanya pengaruh dari media baru. Terutama dalam penggunaan podcast yang dapat memengaruhi pola komunikasi ataupun perilaku sosial dalam masyarakat ataupun kelompok tertentu. Mengacu pada pengaruh media dalam membentuk persepsi, pemahaman, dan perilaku individu terhadap realitas sosial maka podcast Mendoan dapat membuat pendengarnya menganggap perilaku mengumpat sebagai sesuatu yang biasa atau wajar dilakukan dalam percakapan sehari-hari. / Mass media and social media have transformed communication patterns and behaviors, especially among Generation Z. Amidst the myriad of podcasts that utilize Indonesian language as their communication medium, Podcast Mendoan chooses not to prioritize the value of politeness in using proper language as an example for its listeners. This study seeks to examine whether there is an influence from the use of Podcast Mendoan on the formation of normal swearing behavior among Generation Z in Malang City. The researcher employs cultivation theory because it emphasizes the influence of mass media in shaping perceptions and beliefs. Cultivation theory emphasizes that the influence of mass media is a continuous and cumulative process. With the concepts of cultivation theory, namely differential cultivation, mainstreaming, and resonance, the researcher aims to prove its applicability in the context of podcast usage. By continuously listening to Podcast Mendoan, Generation Z may become more exposed to specific narratives about normal swearing behavior, which can influence their understanding and behavior over time. This research adopts a quantitative approach to test hypotheses using random purposive sampling with 100 samples. The research findings can answer the truth of the formulated research hypotheses. The results of the study on the use of Podcast Mendoan regarding the formation of normal swearing behavior among Generation Z in Malang City provide insights into the influence of new media, especially in podcast usage, which can affect communication patterns or social behavior within society or specific groups. Referring to the influence of media in shaping perceptions, understanding, and individual behavior towards social reality, Podcast Mendoan may lead its listeners to perceive swearing behavior as something common or normal in everyday conversations.
