Abstract

ABSTRAK Perubahan iklim terjadi karna adanya pemanasan global, perubahan iklim merupakan salah satu aspek yang akhir-akhir ini sering dibicarakan dalam dunia internasional. Akibat terjadi pemanasan global mengakibatkan terjadinya banyak bencana alam seperti banjir, longsor, kekeringan, cuaca yang tidak menentu serta kenaikan permuakaan air laut yang dampaknya sangat berpengaruh pada aspek kegiatan manusia. Seperti halnya yang terjadi di Pulau-pulau yang ada di Pasifik Selatan, perubahan iklim akibat pemanasan global mengancam kelangsungan hidup mereka. Kiribati menjadi negara yang rentan akibat kenaikan air laut. Indonesia hadir sebagai mitra strategis kerjasama bagi Kiribati dalam membantu penanggulangan dampak perubahan iklim di Kiribati dan dengan tujuan mencapai kepentingan nasionalnya. Sehingga penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana diplomasi Indonesia dengan Kiribati dalam menghadapi perubahan iklim di Kiribati. Untuk menjawab permasalahan yang diteliti, teori yang digunakan adalah teori Diplomasi Publik menurut Susetyo (2008) serta Konsep Kerjasama Internasional Prawita dan Yani (2005) dan Human Security menurut UNDP, dengan melalui metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dan studi pustaka. Hasil penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa, hubungan diplomasi Indonesia dan Kiribati memiliki kepentingan nasional masing-masing. Subjek: Perubahan Iklim, Pasifik Selatan, Kiribati, Indonesia, Diplomasi Publik. / ABSTRACT Climate change occurs because of global warming, climate change is one aspect that has recently been frequently discussed internationally. As a result of global warming resulting in many natural disasters such as floods, landslides, droughts, erratic weather and rising sea levels whose impacts are very influential on aspects of human activity. As is the case with the islands in the South Pacific, climate change due to global warming threatens their survival. Kiribati is a vulnerable country due to rising sea levels. Indonesia is present as a strategic partner for Kiribati in helping to mitigate the impacts of climate change on Kiribati and with the aim of achieving its national interests. So this study aims to find out how Indonesia's diplomacy with Kiribati is in dealing with climate change in Kiribati. To answer the problems studied, the theory used is the theory of Pulic Diplomacy according to Susetyo (2008) and the Concept of International Cooperation Prawita and Yani (2005) and Human Security according to UNDP, using descriptive qualitative research methods and literature studies. The results of this study found that the diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Kiribati have their own national interests.
