Abstract
Karena mengandung zat aktif seperti saponin, alkaloid, glikosida, flavonoid, tanin, xanthones, dan steroid/triterpenoid, kulit buah manggis (Garcinia mangostana L) dapat berfungsi sebagai pengganti bahan antimikroba lainnya. 1,2 Telah dibuktikan bahwa kulit manggis menghasilkan metabolit sekunder dengan berbagai struktur molekul dan fungsi biologis untuk mendukung imunitas. 3,4 Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi daya antibakteri ekstrak metanol kulit manggis terhadap bakteri garam-positif (Streptococcus pneumonia). Untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan dan pengaruh dosis pemberian ekstrak metanol kulit buah manggis terhadap perkembangan bakteri gram positif, penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian deskriptif eksperimental (Streptococcus pneumoniae). Uji antibakteri uji kontrol positif menggunakan Antibiotik azithromycin 30μg untuk bakteri Streptococcus pneumoniae, sementara kontrol negatifnya berupa pelarut DMSO 20%. Digunakan metode difusi cakram atau Kirby-Bauer untuk metode antibakteri. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bakteri Streptococcus pneumoniae gram positif dihambat oleh ekstrak kulit buah manggis (Garcinia mangostana L.) pada berbagai konsentrasi (100 mg/ml, 50 mg/ml, 25 mg/ml, 12,5 mg/ml, 6,25 mg/ml, 3,125 mg/ml, dan 1,562 mg/ml). Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas antibakteri sistem kekebalan tubuh dapat ditingkatkan oleh kulit buah manggis. Kata kunci: Bakteri, Infeksi, Manggis, Streptococcus pneumoniae. / Mangosteen rind (Garcinia mangostana L.) can be an alternative antimicrobial agent because It contains active substances such tannins, xanthones, saponins, alkaloids, glycosides, flavonoids, steroids, and triterpenoids.1,2 Mangosteen peel has been shown to produce secondary metabolites with molecular structure and biological activity.3,4 In this work, the antibacterial efficacy of a methanol extract of mangosteen rind against salt-positive Streptococcus pneumonia bacteria was examined. The objective of this study was to determine the antioxidant activity and the impact of administering different doses of methanol extract from mangosteen rind on the proliferation of gram-positive bacteria (Streptococcus pneumoniae). Antibacterial test positive control test used azithromycin 30μg for Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria, while the negative control was 20% DMSO solvent. The disc diffusion or Kirby-Bauer method was used for the antibacterial method. The results obtained mangosteen peel extract (Garcinia mangostana L.) with differences in concentration (100 mg, 50 mg, 25 mg, 12.5 mg, 6.25 mg, 3.125 mg, and 1.5625) has inhibitory power against gram-positive bacteria Streptococcus pneumoniae. The results in this study prove that mangosteen rind can increase antibacterial activity in the body as an immune system. Keywords: Bacteria, Infection, Mangosteen, Streptococcus pneumoniae
