Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis peran Uni Eropa sebagai penjaga perdamaian kawasan. Sejarah mencatat bagaimana Eropa sebelumnya penuh dengan perang. Tidak hanya menjadi rumah bagi dua perang dunia, namun juga perang yang berlangsung berpuluhan tahun. Bosan dengan perang, negara-negara Eropa membentuk The European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) yang menjadi titik awal Uni Eropa. Penelitian ini akan dikaji dengan menggunakan teori perdamaian yang dicetuskan oleh Immanuel Kant, dan konsep neofungsionalisme Ernst B. Haas. Kedua pendekatan tersebut dipakai untuk memahami dan menganalisis eksistensi Uni Eropa dalam menjaga perdamaian dengan segitiga Kantian. Penelitian ini juga menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan memaparkan sejarah integrasi Eropa hingga terbentuknya Uni Eropa melalui penelitian yang bersifat deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa kehadiran Uni Eropa memenuhi syarat terciptanya perdamaian Kantian yang tidak terbatas pada tiadanya perang, namun hadirnya interdependensi. Uni Eropa memiliki anggota negara yang menganut demokrasi dan juga mempromosikan demokrasi di luar anggotanya. Integrasi yang terjadi pada Uni Eropa menciptakan interdependensi ekonomi antarnegara yang berdasarkan hukum yang mengikat. Uni Eropa menjadi organisasi penjaga perdamaian yang berhasil menerima penghargaan perdamaian Nobel pada tahun 2012. Kata Kunci: Perang; Integrasi Kawasan; Uni Eropa; Perdamaian Kantian. / This research analyzes the role of the European Union as a regional peacekeeper. History records how Europe was previously riddled with war. Not only was it home to two world wars, but also wars that lasted for decades. Tired of war, European countries formed The European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) which became the starting point of the European Union. This research will be examined using Immanuel Kant's theory of peace, and Ernst B. Haas' concept of neofunctionalism. Both approaches are used to understand and analyze the role of the European Union in maintaining peace with the Kantian triangle. This research also uses a qualitative method by describing the history of European integration until the formation of the European Union through descriptive research. The results of this study found that the existence of the European Union fulfills the conditions for the creation of Kantian peace which is not limited to the absence of war, but the presence of interdependence. The European Union has member states that embrace democracy and also promote democracy outside its members. The integration of the European Union creates economic interdependence between countries based on binding laws. The European Union became a peacekeeping organization which succeeded to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 2012. Keywords: War; Regional Integration; European Union; Kantian Peace.
