Abstract

Akne vulgaris adalah penyakit berupa peradangan kronis folikel pilosebasea dengan penyebab multifaktor dan umumnya diderita pada usia muda hingga dewasa, dimulai dari usia 12-15 tahun dengan puncak tingkat keparahan pada usia 17-21 tahun. Kosmetik perawatan kulit (skincare) adalah bahan atau sediaan kosmetik yang mengandung obat-obatan baik yang dijual secara bebas (over the counter) maupun dengan resep (kosmeseutikal). Seiring perkembangan zaman, kosmetik perawatan kulit yang dijual bebas (over the counter skincare) marak digunakan untuk memperbaiki kondisi akne vulgaris, karena lebih murah dan mudah didapat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh penggunaan produk kosmetik perawatan kulit yang dijual secara bebas (over the counter) terhadap kejadian akne vulgaris pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Kristen Indonesia angkatan 2018 hingga 2020. Penelitian ini dilakukan kepada 436 mahasiswa pada bulan Januari 2023 dengan menggunakan kuesioner daring sebagai instrument penelitian. Total responden sebanyak 133 mahasiswa. Sebanyak 106 responden (79,70%) menggunakan produk kosmetik perawatan kulit yang dijual secara bebas (over the counter), sedangkan 27 responden lainnya (20,30%) tidak menggunakan. Terdapat sebanyak 129 responden (96,9%) merasakan efek baik penggunaan produk kosmetik perawatan kulit yang dijual secara bebas (over the counter), dan 4 responden (3,1%) tidak mengisi pertanyaan mengenai efek baik penggunaan produk kosmetik perawatan kulit yang dijual secara bebas (over the counter). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan signifikan penggunaan produk kosmetik perawatan kulit yang dijual secara bebas (over the counter) terhadap perbaikan kondisi akne vulgaris. Kata kunci: akne vulgaris, kosmetik perawatan kulit. / Acne vulgaris is a disease in the form of chronic inflammation of the pilosebaceous follicle with multifactor causes and generally suffered from a young age to adulthood, starting from the age of 12-15 years with peak severity at the age of 17- 21 years. Skincare are cosmetics that contain drugs both sold freely (over the counter) and by prescription (cosmeseutical). Along with the times, over the counter skincare are widely used to improve the condition of acne vulgaris, because it is cheaper and easier to obtain. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the use of over the counter skincare products on the incidence of acne vulgaris in students of the Faculty of Medicine, Christian University of Indonesia batch 2018 to 2020. This research was conducted on 436 students in January 2023 using an online questionnaire as a research instrument. The total respondents were 133 students. A total of 106 respondents (79.70%) used over the counter skincare products, while 27 other respondents (20.30%) did not use. There were 129 respondents (96.9%) felt the good effects of using skincare products that were sold freely (over the counter), and 4 respondents (3.1%) did not fill in questions. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between the use of over the counter skincare products on the improvement of acne vulgaris.
